While I realize the game doesn’t need any more knights at the moment, I’d still like to share my idea for a new knight hero. This knight would be a spear-wielding hybrid (vanguard-assassin mix) called the Paladin.
Key visuals:
>Lightweight armor to allow for greater mobility (or maybe even minimal armor similarly to the Peacekeeper). Leather and chainmail armor would be good options, with some plate armor in the key areas (head, upper chest, shoulders, etc.).
>Would have male and female options for the gender.
>Would be about 6ft tall. The female version would be slightly shorter.
Weapon:
Spear (about 6 or 7ft long)
Themes/concepts:
>Designed for engaging other heroes (1v1, group fights, etc.).
>Elite warrior: controls the fight to be in his favor by keeping the pressure on his opponents.
>Heroic and chivalrous.
>Twirls the spear a lot.
Fighting style/moveset:
>Quick and agile.
>Adaptable
>Harasser/in-your-face (and by “in-your-face,” I mean his spear is)
>Long reach/good at keeping enemies at bay.
>Can have a sprint attack similar to the Gladiator’s where he leaps at you and jabs you with his spear.
>Can trip you with his spear similarly to the Valkyrie.
>Would primarily use jabbing/thrusting and sweeping attacks (similarly to https://images-wixmp-ed30a86b8c4ca88...twjirojPe4qJps).
>Light attacks would be jabs/thrusts and heavy attacks would be sweeps.
>Could possibly have a chargeable heavy jab (i.e. hold the heavy attack button) that becomes unblockable.
>Can have an infinite (or near-infinite) chain of light jabbing attacks.
>Can have an unblockable heavy attack to finish a triple attack chain. This would either be three heavy attacks or a combination of light and heavy attacks with the third being a heavy.
Possible feat options:
The ones in bold are my top choices for each tier, but feel free to comment if you think another one would be better.
>Tier 1:
>Speed revive: rapidly revive fallen teammates (passive)
>Fast recovery: stamina regenerates faster (passive)
>Bounty hunter: gain health and stamina when you kill another hero (passive)
>Iron lungs: you can still spirit when out of stamina (passive)
>Rush: trigger to gain movement speed for a short duration
>Deadly: Attacks deal more damage (passive)
>Tier 2:
>Inspire: nearby allies deal more damage, and soldiers fight faster
>Flesh wound: gain moderate damage reduction every 3 seconds (passive)
>Winner’s advantage: gain a temporary buff after a successful attack (passive)
>Executioner’s respite: the base healing of Executions are increased by 50% (passive)
>Fiat lux: throw a flash grenade that blinds enemies for a few seconds
>Tier 3:
>Crossbow: fire a crossbow bolt for medium damage
>Second wind: recover some of your health
>Thick blood: gain immunity from regular bleed damage (passive)
>Sharpen blade: attacks inflict low damage over time
>Punch through: deal damage on blocked attacks (passive)
>Tier 4:
>Catapult: call a catapult strike over an area
>Stalwart banner: nearby allies continuously regain health
>Morale booster: improve the attacks of nearby allies for a short duration
>Champion’s aura: gain an aura which heals you and nearby allies
>Indomitable: gain a shield when in critical health (passive)
>Arrow storm: aerial attack that deals medium damage in multiple areas
Possible perk options:
These are my top choices (with the one in bold being their default perk), but feel free to comment if you think another one would be better. Keep in mind that vanguards tend to have offensive and/or defensive perks, heavies and hybrids tend to have defensive and/or assist ones, and assassins tend to have offensive ones. However, there are some exceptions to this, such as the Tiandi, who has assist perks.
>Galestorm: upon hero kill, gain 20% movement speed for 10 seconds
>Remedy: upon hero kill, heal +10 health
>Early reaper: upon spawn or when revived, first attack deals 30% more damage
>Supersonic: In revenge, gain 15% movement speed and uninterruptible sprint. Persists briefly after revenge ends
>Survival instinct: when it critical health, gain 25% stamina cost reduction
>Head hunter: for each unique player/bot hero executed, increased max health +4 (max 4 increases)
>Fresh focus: when out of stamina, counter guardbreaks, blocks, and parries regenerate 20% stamina
Signature ideas:
>Can draw a line in the ground with his spear and then motion for you to come at him.
>Can twirl the spear around several times similarly to some of these links.
Execution ideas:
>The enemy begins to run away, and the Paladin chases/charges after them with his spear pointed forward. When he catches up to them, he impales them with his spear while simultaneously slamming them on to the ground (face-down), and then removes the spear.
>The Paladin trips the enemy with his spear and they fall on their back. The Paladin then puts one foot on their chest to keep them from moving, while simultaneously twirling the spear above his head. He then impales them in the face.
