NPC doesn't change from maintenance to another maintenance... it's an urban legend. Ubisoft server and the other hand... My ping is game is 6. I wonder what is the NPC ping...Originally Posted by Ubi-Lucipus Go to original post
Some will say again... "Hey, you stand there.. it's normal you died" But it's not. It's all about NPC starting dealing dmg before his gun was even aiming at me. Anyway, this is on pc.

yeah thats pretty harsh! had a few deaths like you shown.
Yeah, that was some pretty weird npc behavior. But you DID die because of your poor choice of position. You stopped out in the open...standing still with an enemy in a raised position...to try a nade.Originally Posted by TOKYO_ROGUE Go to original post
Bad NPC behavior or not, you got exactly the results your actions dictated. Even if the NPC acted normally you would have been toast.
Surely if you stand in the open like that you will go down quickly. But what he is trying to mention is something I have seen many times, and also in TD1. You get hit (as in damage applied) but the AI isn't up-to-date, meaning they are still hiding in cover. Which is more or less the same with cleaners in TD1 that always managed to shoot at players through cover. Funny thing is I also found out how to do exactly the same in TD2, depending on the environment and cover you're in, you can actually shoot through it. You can hit the NPCs, they only hit the cover you're sitting behind.
As far as I can judge this issue is mainly caused by server processes that do not take into account the time it takes to get up, aim and then start shooting, not other way around. Which is also applied to NPCs running from one place to the other when there are a lot of obstacles in the way. They seem to fly over those because the server only calculates the time it takes to go from A to B in straight line and sends screen updates to clients where NPCs are located on map. And not only is this bad NPC behavior, it just looks stupid and can make players feel that the game is cheating on them.
I would be interested to know more about aggro how that works in this game.
Someone already answered a question on my mind about scaling in another thread

Aggro is definitely prioritised to agents out of cover and AI kicks up a notch when one agent standing.
So many times NPCs run past a DPS player towards a skill based player ignoring an agent doing more damage that is closer to them. Then there are times you want the aggro as a tank and no matter how you try to stay in their face they keep running off to other agents.
think what he is getting at Sircowdog, is he wasn't actually in the line of site of the NPC above him, you didn't even see the bullet trace, agreed positioning was the best, but he still got drilled through a wall.Originally Posted by Sircowdog1 Go to original post
No...what he was getting at was being angry at being killed in the game. From the title of the video to the way he posts. The thin veneer of the NPC acting weird is just an excuse. Otherwise the entire tone and point of the vid would be completely different.Originally Posted by Sn0wBaaalL Go to original post
This isn't the first time he's posted that video, and it got the same sorts of replies as it's getting now. He found one instance out of millions of interactions with NPCs and tries to highlight it as thought it's a common occurrence and explanation of "The reason people die often". When in truth the real reason people die often in the game is because they screw up.
I'm never going to let this kind of crap slide. There are legitimate issues in the game. No question. But this isn't one of them that happens often enough to even be a blip on the radar.
