    The Far Cry 1-5 replay

Are you getting in the mood by re-playing Far Cry 1-5?

At least Ubisoft seem to be suggesting this is a thing to do in a recent advert I saw.

Is such a playthrough viable? Would you be royally sick of Far Cry by October?

I've re-loaded FC 1-3 back onto my Xbox, to have a go at it (non-completionist runs I think).

I still play FC5 regularly, specially thanks to the resistance mod. I was doing it anyway before knowing about mod.

And from time to time I revisit the greatest of the greatest in the series. FC2, which I would love to see a remake with todays tech in the future, but hugely improved with new content too as well as having back its classic mission locations, such as the car scrapyard, and that awesome village built uphill, just to name a couple.

I gave up on FC2 after about an hour.

Perhaps it's time to try that game again...

If it ends up engaging me, it will perhaps explain why many people love it.

My goodness, so many gameplay mechanics we take for granted simply aren't in Far Cry Classic.

But it is 17 years old, so that's not surprising.

With Far Cry Classic done, on to Far Cry Instincts.

Kinda weird to remake a game with essentially the same plot, but completely reworked levels (and so soon after the original).

    And now I'm a werewolf ???

Curious for a series that became known for being 'samey', how different Far Cry (and Far Cry Instincts) are from the games that followed.

Continuing the pre-Far Cry 6 complete playthrough.

    Far Cry Instincts is done.

A bloated game with inadequate checkpointing and it's worth mentioning that the Doyle escort mission was a travesty of frustration.

On to Far Cry Instincts Evolution, for hopefully not more of the same, but I suspect it may well be.

'Cause FC1 (& Insticts) wheren't made under UBI Soft's umbrella. UBI just bought the Cry Engine and FarCry brand from Crytek, remade the engine a bit, labeled it DUNIA and produced FC2 with vastly different aproach from the Crytek's FC1.
IMO it went good for that franchise - let's be honest, FC1 was just darn pretty game, but with nothing revolutionary. FC2 on the other hand was one of the first top-shelf FPS games with snad box world, with emphasis on tactics rather then full-frontal-assualt's.

I agree that FC2 is a game (series) changer.

The leap forward in quality from FC, FCI and FCIE is marked.

The game's going to take a little while to complete...

Yes, Ubisoft acquired the license and rights to Far Cry and made Far Cry Instincts Evolution, Vengeance and Predator. Crytek moved on to CryEngine 2 for Crysis 1 and it was PC exclusively until 2011. While Crytek aimed at taking advantage of PCs, Ubisoft made Dunia for Far Cry 2 aimed at making it compatible for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Later Crytek made CryEngine 3 to be compatible with consoles for Crysis 1 and 2 in 2011.

If you want to play the spiritual successor to Far Cry 1 and Far Cry Instincts, I recommend playing Crysis 1, 2 and 3.

Far Cry 6 has tree destruction similar to Crysis. It seems like Ubisoft is bringing back destruction from Far Cry 2.
