I love The Division 1 and 2. I think the open world and idea is great overall. Only thing I have a complain about is how useless the ranking system and meta is in the single player. It feels old like fallout 3. Why having a rank system if every place you go in your missions has enemies at your level in the first place. Difficulty feels the same in every single missions. So what's the point? Keeping you from accessing other areas that are higher level? That's dumb. That's when you break from the illusion. When you get killed with one shot and the enemy feels spongy. I rather see a wall or not have a key to open a door. Like the multiplayer. When you get to max level the rank is just a number. What matters is the gear you have built or found. That's how the entire world should feel like in single player or multiplayer.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R games are the best example of well executed rpg that feels real and makes sense. You never level up. You only have the feel of being more powerful as you go thru missions and find gear. Not get rewarded a level 15 SAW or MP9 that will be garbage for the rest of the entire game. Makes building useless at early ranks cause anything you build is worthless in a few minutes. So you hinder your own building system experience. Also, when you find a gun and you want to keep it you are forced to change it with something you don't like, cause the level is too low for the next missions. Again, in stalker world you can go against a very experienced guy with much better gear and have a chance at least if you have the skills needed. It's going to be hard, but doable.

This game makes you go thru all this missions in the order they want that it doesn't matter how the open world is it still feels linear. I'm 44 and I felt like I was back in pre school getting rewarded for a homework well done. Yaaay I leveled up. . . so. You still cant count on your skills against anyone higher than you. Doesn't matter how good you are and that breaks from the illusion. This game is good. But, it could've been so much better without the ranking system over all. Or just make it a number that only shows for how long you have played the game.
