What if Gear Sets were only 2 Pieces?

I haven't thought this idea through --- feel free to completely shred it apart.

I have been hardcore farming in the Summit looking for very specific pieces(this is similar to how my life ended in TD1, farming for God rolls of my "favorite gear/rolls")

Lately I have really been enjoying running a Crowd Control build - Vile Mask, 4 piece Ecclipse and a GOlan Backpack. RNG randomly dropped some China Light kneepads -- I had a flashback to launch of TD2 in which China Light and Golan were the primary gear sets for running Status Effects builds.

That got me thinking, with Ecclipse Protocol and various other options "better in slot" --- does anyone even run a 3-piece China Light status effect build anymore? If not, than if there was ever a 'gear 3.0" what if gear sets were subtracted to only 2 piece outfits??

With 2-piece gear sets, we could effecively have 3 different pairs of gear sets for builds and I can see how this would really shake things up(quite OP in some cases).

My quesiton is are 3 piece gear sets a good standard? Or did Gear 2.0 and all the subsequent gear updates kind of render 3 piece gear sets obsolete and there is only ever enough motivation to run either a 2 piece 'yellow' based build or a 4 piece classified gear set based build?

My eventual build is 1/1/1/1/2...for combining output damage, weapon increases...

But I'm solo 98% of time, and I hate multiple building.

I go for one all around build and play.

It's a hobby/time killer to me, not my life.

    So I rdgaf about it.

But, I see your point, and:

    +1 it

AKA why the **** did Massive scrap the awesome sense of power in going to Gear 2.0?

There are a few powerful builds that utilize 3 pieces, like seriously strong.

If gear sets were dropped to 2 pieces (& associated gear set bonuses crammed into 2 pieces), it would lead to some obscenely op builds. To the point where gear sets would have to be nerfed/adjusted/dialed down, which would not be a welcome change.

so far i have 11 loadouts and a few are green sets mostly it is 1 or 2 of the same set empress for my skill build is a full set of three i believe rest are at max 2 pieces with yellow sets, and 4 piece hardwire and future perfect and hunters fury, rest are maybe 3 greens aces and striker and patriot are all 3 pieces atm.

So it is up to the players themselves since a lot of the sets have the first 2 as the "good" gear buffs at least for me that is.

They can't tailor the game to what a small group of players want people need to understand this There will be just as many people and more who won't like the idea. They are trying to satisfy a large group of players and all their stuff would be nerfed and hard work lost if they followed your plan they can't do what you propose.

Honestly outside of providence and maybe a brand or two (like ceska) most people DON'T actually run 3 items of a brand, i have yet to see someone doing an AR build with 2 or 3 pieces fenrir

Are we actually talking about Brand Sets or Gear Sets? Because the OP starts with an Eclipse example but ends claiming that wearing 3 pieces was the standard?

So if we're talking about Brand Sets: Please leave them just the way they are! We finally have a lot of Brands and interesting named items, we can actually combine a lot of Brands, re-roll main attributes and create a broad variety of builds. Please do not ruin the possibly best build variety we ever had in this game so far because someone would fancy having even more bonuses and talents with less gear.
