Don't side mission icons have a pentagonal shape?

That's also called "Group member waypoint", could it be you were playing with others or were in someone else's session after a PUG?

I got that once also but for me, i got it because I was searching for A collectible comms and i had one discovered, so when you discover one, you have the option of "Mark as Objective" But me what the problem was, it was searching for a Comm that was not in NY but in DC, but it showed me where to go in NY... Hard to find if your not on the good map... the Icon was the same as you and if I remember correctly, was the same place as you... Well I finally found it in DC but cant remember which one it was...

Hope I explain myself correctly, sorry not my main language...

Hope it helps you out... but yes I saw that bog myself...
