    Dumb Q regarding optimization

Why is my optimization range offered here only from 17,352 to 17,882? Is it because I don't have enough materials, and the option to go to full scale would be there if I had more?

This is my initial "guess" on the topic, but want to make sure I am not overlooking something.

I think the first time you optimize a virgin piece it's a small percentage, then the following optimizations for that item are in larger chunks.

For example, weapon with 50% health and 50% damage out of cover attribute.

first optimization on health is a small percentage, then it goes in larger chunks.

Optimize the 50% out of cover, first optimize is a small percentage, then also larger chunks till it's maxed out.

the real question is why would you want to optimize a health stat ?

better farm for a better one IMO.

Damage to health. Was just an example.

    No, it's more about steps.

For example a piece with 6.2 Explosive resistance is made into 6.4 for 2 SHD Calibrations.

Another piece with 5.6 Explosive resistance is made into 6.4 for 10 SHD Calibrations.

Both pieces have just been picked up with no prior optimization.

Ahh, OK, thanks. I've only optimized three pieces to date (my Vile mask, Scorpio and Mop shotguns) and in all three cases it took only one "spin" to get each stat to 100%.

Admittedly, all three were far closer to their potential maximums than this one is, so maybe that's why?

I also finally reached SHD 1,000, so mats are coming (relatively) quicker now, and I've been exploring other optimization routes as a result.

If i am not mistaken it goes from certain thresholds to the next, so if you are in the mid spot between then you just pay a discounted price based on how far you are to the next one, so random pieces will probably have a smaller upgrade thne a consistent string of more expensive but bigger ones next
