The game gives the option to play without HUD, therefore there are some things that doesn't work so well.
Compass: Many of my friends like to play with the compass ON. The problem with that when it is on we can still see a detection notification message along with a white/yellow/orange/red ring around it depending on the alert level of the enemy. If I try to play it realistic there's no way that I can know of the "detection level" of the enemy so this ring should simply not show up when I change the Alert settings or Detection Gauge to never. Another suggestion is to have the option for the compass to be invisible and show up only when I press the TAB key just like the Objectives thing.
Input Reminder: without it it's very hard to do the right action. The best example is when freeing a captive in the wilderness. After eliminating the hostiles, you have all together: A bike, a gun, a corpse and a tied up civilian, if not a tablet/phone to be hacked. Without Input Reminder it becomes such a hard task to not grab the body or swap the weapon instead of freeing up the captive. The other problem is that when I leave the Input Reminder on, I still see "Sync Shot" when playing with Ai team mates or people in my team or with Sync Shot drone equipped, even if the enemies are behind walls. Because of that I want to disable that option, but I can't because of the first problem. One suggestion is to disable the "Sync Shot" message when we disable other options like "Sync Shot module" or "Enemy Markers". Another suggestion is to make the multiple options fade in after a few seconds of standing still.
Like mentioned in another post, helicopters should give missle incoming alert sound even when "Alerts" are turned off, those for rocket or grenade incoming.
If we turn Alerts off we still see a red ring when a grenade/rocket/mortar is coming. I can play without that ring because I can see when an enemy throws a grenade, I can hear when a mortar shoots, and I can hear when a Behemoth shoots. As for the rocket launcher I should survive if I see him before he sees me. That's why I want to turn Alerts off in the first place.
There could be a separate setting for crosshairs for mounted turrets, helicopters and cannons. I don't want to see it on foot, but I can't have iron sights or scope on mounted machineguns, I can't see the crosshair like a helicopter pilot sees it when I'm piloting with a rocket launcher helicopter. And the turrets that we can hack we should see the crosshair because the game shows us a camera view from the turret in a display.
One more thing: this is not really necessary, but I've tried playing with the objective list disabled and I never knew if it was completed or not, having me to go into the map view all the time. Maybe we could have a subtle small beep when that list was updated so we could check the "PDA"
I appreciate very much for the hard work in the small details in this game, I enjoy it a lot, even after 350 hours.
Nice list and I totally get where you're coming from.
Compass - definitely as you state. I hate the detection status being shown so I now play with it off. So, so much better not knowing this. Keeps you on edge. But I do hate having to go into my binoculars for the direction and time often. As you say remove the detection status from the compass but also have an option for its appearance as manual. I only want to see it when I want it. Dynamic makes it auto pop up when danger is close which I do not want and I don't want it permanently on screen either.
Sync shot - forgive me if I am wrong but the are sync shot HUD options and if you turn that off, the sync shot text should not display and nor should the A B C markers and top right sync shot HUD show. You should still be able to use sync shot however so that is already in game. It is annoying knowing there's an enemy there if this is not turned off.
Crosshairs - again totally agree with you. Don't want them on but you need them for ticket launcher, turrets, helo etc where you cannot physically aim yourself.
Alert red ring of death - yep would make it much more tense without it.
I personally keep the mission list on dynamic as it helps me know that I have located the objective. Unfortunately some of the missions and not detailed enough for you to know what the objective is and see when this pops back on screen when I have the objective in sight, it's useful. For example, in Amber Ruin, without any HUD indication I would never have known what the gas cylinder cargo I needed hack looked like and would've had to go rubbing against each 1 until I get the "hack" pop up. Same for blowing those batteries in the Cromwell mission where you save her. Without a picture of the objective or a proper description, it's a guessing game so that's why I keep that dynamic.
Otherwise good suggestions!
and I've tried that... lol... I've spent 15 minutes going up and downstairs trying to find those cylinders, or in hack missions going to every computer trying to find the one to be hacked, oh man, input reminder helps that a lot, because that right there it's a bit boring.Originally Posted by martbloke88 Go to original post
but yeah, it's a game, so you can only activate the right objective, in RL you either have the intel or you have to hack every computer, plant the c4 hoping that's the right container, and so on...
Yeah exactly. IRL you'd have the correct intel. Hacking - well they'd be able to hack any computer on the network to do what they needed otherwise find the actual server itself.Originally Posted by Rafi-KtC Go to original post
