    So....is this the end?

I've been holding out hope for this franchise. Ive put nearly 4000 hours into this game with hopes of enjoying the game for years, getting several raids, multiple DLC map expansions, several new game modes, etc. I was fully prepared to pay $100 a year for continued evolution and additions to this game. I wanted to give them my money.

After slogging through the last year of "seasons" which are nothing more than old recycled content with a timer, and getting nothing but Summit in the last calendar year, now seeing the lazy and lackluster ending to Fay Launch, I think it's time. I think it may finally be time to admit I gave Massive too much credit. I believed they cared about the franchise. I believed this franchise would become one of the most successful in gaming. I feel so very disappointed and I have no faith left in this studio or franchise. I believe their idea of content is seasons, some cosmetics and few new guns and gear sets. To me, that's a .1 title update. And I think that's all we are going to get moving forward. I sincerely hope I'm wrong and we will get a couple new game modes, map expansions, new raids, etc......but looking at the last year tells me it's time to wake up and stop hoping.

I love this game, but I think it might finally be time to admit this isn't a franchise that will be supported or one worth investing time and passion in to. There is no communication, no trust, and very little hope left.

Who knows if this is the end.

    All i'll say is.

The Langley files/Comms all speak about other places/governments and the Green poison.

This is the comms list from that final mission.

    Japan
    Russia
    Mexico
    Europe
    Asia
    Africa
    South America
    India
    Canada
    Middle East

So hey we might be going to one of these in The Division 3/4/5/6/7/8/9/10 (got to get the Cash cow going.)

I think the seemingly inbound, longer-than-normal, drought period will make it seem like the end, although, the Faye Lou datamine last year foreshadowed this day. But hey, that's what happens after a season ends, right?

For me, I must uninstall until further notice. There's not much the game can give me at this point and it will be very difficult for me to hop on and "just play." It was only recently that I caught myself up on the Manhunts, but it was very difficult for me to play them. I'd start a play session burnt out, so imagine how they went. I did play the open world parts with my group privacy set to open, which made the play sessions tolerable, but almost everything that dropped for me was instantly deleted. Exotics were instantly shared. The end of Division 1 all over again.

Playing the game for the story was painful, but it had to be done because the expectations for the Faye Lou mission, at least, were pretty high, only to be mildly disappointed with it in the end. The recent, although vague, information we got from the investors stuff does soften the blow, but let's not ignore the "later this year" and "2022" parts.

In the end, there's nothing wrong with not playing the game. There's nothing wrong with playing other games. But with the current state of end game, we can only hope that Massive understands why players may be compelled to do either of those things.

I love the game like most but you make it sound like the worlds coming to a end

Why should there be an announcement of D3 in near future?
    Its simply not necessary!

D2 got a fresh nextgen-(performance) update. Even if D3 will be announced, it will nearly not have any benefit from technical side. It simply will eat up a huge amount of resources at Massive/Ubi who can better improve D2 instead.
All D2 needs is an improvement and/or time-to-time addition of content (packs).
Long story short: a further DLC would make way more sense, both for us the player base and the developers.

Take a look to WoW and its development over the years. There is no WoW2 yet, but you can hardly compare a vanilla wow with todays state of the game anymore. They improved a lot on tech and gameplay side without restarting the franchise.... For a reason: its way more efficient versus doing a new game from the very beginning.

And: D2 has so many big and small opportunities to evolve, still.

Use the current world, current mission more clever (eg further legendary versions of missions)....

Add a further scene (via DLC) is very easy. Just like new york.

Rework Kenly, add a further Raid...

There is no need for D3! D2 is still awesome technically (graphics) and meanwhile on gameplay side (small improvements are always possible or desireable).
D3 would take at least until 2023f to release...

A couple of things for thought.

Ubisoft pull the purse strings and they have made it clear in the no so past, they want games to be yearly or two year cycles, so a Division 3 is likely,

Next If it's way more efficient to add to the existing game why have we got a Division 2, all they had to do was add to The Division and expand that game would have made alot more sense have DC as the expansion to the original NYC,

Or the last resort. Thats it done and dusted no more games in the Franchise.

Good point. Not having played D1 before i cannot answer that, because i dont have the comparison how close D1 is at D2 gameplaywise esp. If the MMO factor increased drastically in D2 which made it necessary.
