I'm watching master rank PC gameplay pre ccu and I'm in love with what I see. What was the issue before? Turtling?
I am concluding that even on PC, after the other changes brought by the CCU, remove the hidden indicators.
The rest of the CCU changes are great, but the hidden indicators have led the game down a troubled road.
Look at the most popular for honor youtubers. Look at how their average views per video have dropped since around the time of the CCU.
No one wants to watch the spam fest. They wanted to watch the mind games. They wanted to see a game unique to itself. Now it's just as spammy as any 2D fighting game.
REMOVE HIDDEN INDICATORS.
I'm done until then. If it never happens, well then goodbye.
Rip on me all you like. I love the CCU besides the hidden indicators and animations. Without hiding the first 100ms of stuff, the CCU would have been perfect.
Stam changes. Damage changes. Frame advantage/disadvantage. Options for light spam. ALL VERY HEALTHY.
Hiding the indicators? Way to omit the other changes and keep the game as toxic as ever.
I am a high diamond player, not some noob. I have come close to master ranks many times without meta heroes and I can not deflect or light parry on purpose. That makes no sense.
How the hell am I ranked so high but I can't do any of the best stuff? Maybe I'm a light spammer, but then since light spam is "only an issue of the one receiving it", I guess light spamming is a viable way to play but it shouldn't be so viable to get me this far.
Since it's safe to say that light spam is not viable enough to get you this high, it is safe to assume I am truly worth my rank. That being said, if I'm truly worth my diamond rank, I should be able to pull off some impressive maneuvers, yet I cannot.
HOW IS THIS NOT A MORE RECOGNIZED ISSUE??
Anyways. That's my rant. I'm done Ubisoft. I've given this game a million second chances because I love the concept so so much, but the execution has been terrible since day one.
I should have quit playing when it took over a year to fix server problems that caused 90% disconnection rates. (Maybe not 90%, but insanely high dc rates nontheless.)
I promise if you remove the hidden indicators and LEAVE THE REST OF THE CCU CHANGES, your playerbase would be much much happier, newbies and vets alike.

However, if it turns out you don't need a break from the game, sorry to see you go. And don't feel bad for your reasoning either. Many still feel the same way since the CCU's reception has always been mixed.

As Grand Master and Actuall Gran master on pc (36 place but still XD) I can agree with bdur. Dont get me wrong i can still parry lights like its nothing but with heroes like shinobi lights, berserker and few more its clrarly hard to block thiers lights for example 400 ms visible light from berserker...Tiandi double tap (side) it just clearly go trough armor...be removing 100 ms indicators game might back to turtling meta yet! i think the hidden indicator should just be removed on few specyfic heroes
I feel the same... just came back after like 1 and half year break.
And the game became nothing more than a button smashing simulator. A fight is nothing more now but who is the better at spamming lights.
This is definietly not the same game i bought on launch week..
Enough said i guess, time to move on, and hope that a competent studio will create a better For Honor.

I think pre CCU light parry was easier on reaction, you had new players complaining a lot about this, that they were coming up against players who parried a lot of light attacks, let alone heavies. So Ubi didnt want to upset the majority of the player base and wanted to change the approach to the game which is now more based on reads rather than reaction. so now light parries are difficult. you should learn / read your opponent rather than sit and react to their moves, which is what was happening pre CCUOriginally Posted by MrBdur Go to original post
But of course this created the problem of light stamp even more. now new players just throw attacks after attacks, especially with stamina cost of attacks greatly reduced you can now throw more attacks than pre-CCU
Im honestly right about there, If the year 5 reveal comes and they dont acknowledge fundamentally broken characters like Shinobi, highlander, and shaoilin then im out. i cant. My main of highlander has been spat and shat on for no reason other than people cant fight him. All three of these characters are some of the worst in the game but before they see any changes or acknowledgement of how bad they truly are, ubi decides to roll out a warden buff.
I love this game and its core concept. ive been playing it since the beta when I fell in love. The CCU was all good changes other than the hidden indicators, its ruined that edge of mind games and skill level it took to get higher up in my eyes. If they fix either of these two things then ill be back but i just cant play a game like this anymore either
Bro the word broken is totally different with what you try to explain. Shinobi for example is the worst hero in the game and the last 2 years he getting only nerfs after nerfs and no word for rework. Is by far the worst hero they made. Shaolin, nothing bad with him maybe to find a use for his leg sweep the worst move on the game. Highlander is the only one you can say is broken, his 4th feat extremely strong, fast lights, hyper armor, offensive stance in ganks is a nightmare and the lights from offensive stance are stupidly annoying.Originally Posted by Saint_YeetsXB Go to original post
Broken as in the kits they have arent good/ healthy for the game. Not broken as in "wow these characters are broken OP". Misinterpretation on that and that comes from me using the wrong phrasing to explain. Shinobi is a shell of his former self, on release he was absolutely busted and didnt fit into the game of for honor and has slowly been nerfed down to a pitiful excuse of a character.
Shaolin has a few strong points but theyre locked behind Qi stance. A non moving second form that doesnt regen stamina to either throw out an unblockable heavy thats slow as hell, a 700ms crushing counter light thats asking to be parried, an undodgeable heavy that moves like a dodge attack with no I frames and is again, parry bait. His kick for Qi is half way decent, but his sweep has almost no use in 4s or duels. Couple this with a dodge attack thats so slow it can be blocked by certain characters after its used to dodge and his horrid stamina management to get any type of damage out. Hes just not good.
The only thing you can say about highlander is his mid chain light hyper armor, Needs to go, no if ands or buts. However the rest of his kit is just terrible. There is not a single thing that highlander does that another character can do easier for an equal to better output. Highlander's heavies are not the hardest hitting, vanguards beat him out. Highlander has a pitiful 125 hp and is one of the slowest moving characters in the game. His 50/50 kick grab can just be rolled from on reaction. Other than his finisher heavies, all his openers are some of the slowest moves in the game with some of the slowest hyper armor. 800ms hyper armor activation is as slow as the entirety of jj's heavy, and that's just for the hyper armor to start. Celtic curse has good hyper armor activation but it has a good amount of Gb vulnerability and if you just block top and react to sides then congrats you've beaten it. His offensive stance lights may be fast at 400ms with 300ms indicators but they all leave him at frame disadvantage so nothing is guaranteed off of them. they're just an annoying interrupt tool. In ganks highlander gets hit out of his offensive stance and his heavies from defensive stance so much by teammates there are times its better just to leave and do something actually productive elsewhere. Yes his tier 4 spear storm is ridiculous in terms of damage, but it cant be used anywhere indoors which severely limits its usability. And if youre dying to highlanders just using light light heavy, you would lose to light spam vs any hero. nothing about highlanders chains make him special. its exactly like everyone else's. His attacks are no faster then theirs. His animations are **** tho.
As i said i main highlander so i understand his issues much better than the other two. Hence the much larger paragraph for him.
