Still, I gotta say that I feel like this mission rework was particularly poor, if we can even call that a rework. I played it solo so I don't know if things play out differently in a squad but some aspects almost felt nonsensical. Like random SHD tech chests spawning a single striker drone here and there... What in the was the point of that? I played solo heroic and it honestly didn't serve any kind of purpose, didn't pose a threat or add to the difficulty either, it was just there.
You also get 1 of those modified EMPs we discovered during Jupiter's Manhunt but contrary to that mission, it doesn't fit into the "story" and it's just one EMP in a control environment so it's not like it's magically making the mission challenging. Then a few turrets, okay...
I don't know, it really feels like this manhunt was put together exremely quickly by recycling a few elements and assembling them with no vision, scheme or purpose. Like they were given 2 hours to do a 2 day job. To me, the mission felt, stale, awkward, weird and boring.
Of all the manhunt missions, this was my least favourite. Even Coney Island, that was certainly lazy and kinda ridiculous at times, at least had some kind of identity and a particular feel to it. This one I felt nothing.
The story is basically dead. At this point they need a new game to revive and progress it. I can't see any kind of purpose in what we've been doing regarding the plot. We killed Keener and his rogues, Hornet and his rogues, Schaeffer and his Rogues, Jupiter and her Rogues, Circe and her Rogues, Faye Lau... I mean, it"s just more of the same over and over again, and when we finally get to a major character that could be a good opportunity to progress the plot, we get a few lines of dialogues and that person dies, adding almost nothing to the storyline.
President Ellis, lol, we've been chasing that guy around for a while now, man just drops dead off-screen and it had 0 impact on me, nor did Lau's death tbh. Everything is just becoming more and more meaningless.
As for Lau's defection, the "reasons" she gives are just generic stuff we've heard from Black Tusk before. So that too was pretty much pointless.
It's still one hell of a game, I have a lot of hours on it so can't complain there. The issue I have is that excluding the RAID, since WONY, there's been a huge gap between what they're trying to sell us as content and how much time, care and dedication is actually put into it. The apparel event is a good exemple of how they operate and market their content and they've been abusing that formula for atoo long.
