Yeah...I tried to create a clan some time ago, that I wanted to call "Virus"...Since the word virus is said countless times in this game which is ABOUT a virus, virus is actually the bread and butter of the Division games. NOPE, nuuu way! "Virus" was profanity.

Well, I'd say that the real problem is that when naming this gear set no one could foresee the problem. I'd say step one in selecting a gear set name should be making sure that it isn't a hit in the filter system. This word is problematic two ways. It should have never been chosen.

For those, who don't understand, how codding works, here is the answear.

These words are restricted due to existing variables with such names. That's why, you can't name it. Use simmilar symbol, like 1==I, and you will be fine.

PS: yes, it should not exist in perfect world, but that's how that engine works.

You would think Massive would simply pick a name that isn't so closely assigned to a profanity.

these names shouldnt be subjected to any filter. They are private and for your eyes only so its silly for the filter to even be applied for the loadouts.

They will argue the fact that they are protecting yourself from seeing such profanity that you typed yourself to protect Massive from a lawsuit in case you reported what you had written yourself as offensive thus starting said lawsuit. And that my friends is the PC world we live in.

Agree but it shouldn't surprise you. The SJW soy crowd never stops whining and crying so they just overdo it to avoid the temper tantrums.

That's exactly what I said. No one can see my loadout names but me, so what difference does it make?

So they try to protect me from using something similar to a profanity in a name only I can see, then I start the game and on my first hostile engagement the NPCs call me 3 different curse words and threaten to kill me...in the first 10 seconds.

    Yeah, makes perfect sense.

As a baseline, yes, that's true.

I wonder if they tried to avoid problems in the case a streamer would use profanities in his loadouts and showed them on stream. Would this have caused and outcry towards the devs? Better safe than sorry?
