The key to have a hard Far Cry game is either to work on the economy or to have a selection of enemies that will always be hard to kill, no matter the stuff you have.

In survivor mode in Primal, a sabertooth kills you in 2 hits. No matter when. Wolves would kill you in 3 and attack in packs of 3-5. Mammoth kills you in one good ram... and you could not insta kill those. Animals are the most dangerous enemies in Far Cry games to me. And 5 was clearly easier due to the lack of those.

It is incredibly sad that Animals are the most dangerous enemies in a shooter game about fighting enemy people. Honestly, I hated Eagles in FC4, tigers were bad early, Rinos also bad early, but mostly they were annoying as they were EVERYWHERE.....

FCPrimal, ok, animals are toughest....I can accept that due to the game setting....but not FC main games going forward....

If I were to have some suggestions to make the game more difficult, I'd list the following:
    • Enemy snipers should have sharper eyes than standard enemies. It should be a challenge against players with silenced sniper rifles. Their detection meters should be quicker than normal. There should be more snipers like Jacob Seed.
    • Like in Far Cry New Dawn, there should be more alarms in outposts that are hidden inside buildings or protected from snipers at certain angles.
    • Like other Ubisoft games, there should be an enemy type that can trigger the alarm by themselves. They don't have to run to the alarm.
    • Return of Far Cry 4's hunters
    • Enemies can perform takedowns on the player.
    • Enemies should be suspicious of absent soldiers killed and hidden by the player. If they are talking to each other, they should notice that their conversation has been cut abruptly by the player.

I don't really want the game to resort to bullet sponge enemies such as more heavies and enforcers from New Dawn or becoming trial and error. I do have more suggestions but I'd have to explain more.

    Agree.

I think it should depend mostly on the setting.

Because there are many interesting possible settings but with lack of animals' variety.
Binding to animals dramatically narrows down the possible Far Cry settings.

The game should involve more and more domestic animals, pets.
Chicken, ducks, geese, cows, bulls, sheep, goats.....They're just everywhere.
People have different kind of pets today - dogs, cats, ferrets, tarantulas....

Animals, being an integral part of Far Cry, at the same time will reastrain its development.

People should be the worst animals in Far Cry.

    Returning to AI....

Why not put in the game a sneaky enemy. Some vile coward.

For instance, we're liberating outpost....it seems that all enemies are dead....but the flag is not raising, still no "outpost liberated".
We're looking everywhere, no one is there.
    Tension is raising.
Hard work was done and now one enemy can kill us and nullify all work.

As usual all enemies attacking us.
    They're brave.

Why not to make, at least, one of them - a sneaky coward?!

Hiding from us in the outpost he can make oupost liberation more exciting.

The main idea of Far Cry games is to survive in the wildlderness and exotique locales so that s pretty normal than animals are an important threat. Then i d say that expecting a random dude with a bat or a guy with a pistol to be less dangerous than an elephant, a 600kg bear or a rampaging rhino is a bit disappointing. Because the main difference bewteen the animals and the humans in FC games is that you can shoot enemies from afar, while they stay behind their cover and fire at you. Everyone sticks to their position until one finally dies, since the shotgunners are barely the only ones coming to you directly. Since animals only go to you on contact, you have to stay very mobile or shoot them first (as for dogs or judges). I love Far Cry games but how many times have i been shooting a whole outpost from afar without having a single dude rushing me... it s especially true for high end enemies that are not only slow but really static for the most part. That s logical, yet a strap of C4 and boom.

I guess the ideal combination is a mix of both.

I don't care what animal you face, not many will still be standing after a full mag(30 rnds) from an AK or a long burst from a M60. Even a M16 full mag will take most down....maybe not cleanly, maybe not humanely but they will still die just under the number of strikes. Yeah, one round will be stopped by a thick skull or breast bone, but what about 20 into the head or chest??? Elephant?? Hey elephant, meet grenade....dead elephant. Humans are the dominate animal on the planet for a reason, and that is our brains and the awful weapons we create.

Personally, I think enemy guns don't do enough damage, meaning they really aren't a threat. You get shot from an AK47, you aren't just going to get up and run around shooting everyone, but instead it will really hurt you. Enemies seeing you and shooting at you should pose a serious threat, and most don't. When my son and I play, we like most stealth and sniping but once seen, bring it and go all guns blazing. Yeah we get hit, but pop a potion, do a bit of healing and steamroll the base....this shouldn't be the case. If you are facing 5-10 people, going head to head in most cases SHOULD be VERY difficult or a death sentence, not "ok, lets go hot and rumble."

Now Jacob's gun strength was good.....that setup was bad, since you could pop him in the head and he would heal and come back....so to win it was pop all the potions and just run at him like a crazy.....it works much better than traditional fighting to him.

I don't like bullet sponge enemies, but many enemies will die in one or two bullet strikes from you, so even it out and make you THINK about what you are doing otherwise you DIE. Make equipment something you need, such as helmets, bullet proof vests, and camouflage, and leave the funny mask heads for other games or online.

One method of making Far Cry games more challenging that I am vehemently opposed to is increasing enemy resilience. I detest the idea of more bullet sponge enemies. Heavies already fill this role, so more enemies that can soak up mag after mag is redundant. I would like to see a marked improvement to AI. Have enemies lay suppresion fire while they flank you, make the damage you take be more significant. I do however like and feel it is part of the series that as you progress through the game it becomes less challenging as the character becomes more skilled and capable, so a diminishing challenge is par for the course, at that point they'd just need to be ramping up the number of goons they're throwing at you...

In Far Cry 5 - one plane was chasing us.

May be in Far Cry 6 several planes will do it?!

It would be better if we're subjected to a massive bombardement.

With all that heavy sound of approaching bombers....sound of falling bombs....explosions.

To feel the immersive massive bombardement in the game, to run and to hide, would be exciting!

We were writing about how AI was smart in F.E.A.R1....
How it was ahead of time.

But there was an interesting old game, also ahead of its time, for me.
    "The Thing" (2002)
Sequel to the movie of 1982.

"The Thing" (2011) movie was a prequel.

The game was interesting not as super-smart bots or shooting but interaction with partners.

How can we interact with our squad.
    How can we influence them.
How we can gain their trust.

Realization of that was rather interesting.

I think developers should play or replay that old game once more.
It can be useful for Far Cry franchise as well.

Old games, they are like valuable antique.
They contain a lot of interesting and unrealized possibilities.
    Seeds.
Made by fans, in times, when big money hasn't come to industry and hasn't spoiled it yet.

They should be played in original version only.
    Not remasterings or reduxes.

They should be played as it was planned by developers, initially.

For me, remastering of an old game is something ugly.
It's like old person pretending to be young.
Old person hanging out with young people, using their slang and manners of behaviour....

    All in a good time.

Old ages are just beautiful as young ages.
No need to redesign one to the other.

The same with the old games - no need to redesign them.
You will not make them better, you will make them ugly.

Yes, old games are sometimes awkward and clumsy...

But that clumsiness only gives them more natural charm.

    (Another thing is remake.
When the game is remade from the ground up, using new engine.)

Anyway, better to live old games alone.
