Conflict only got Wharf, and that was before WONY. It hasn't gotten anything ever since, except getting those glitchy safe areas on said map removed.Originally Posted by moesuvious Go to original post
The faye lou mission ending was disappointing, yes, however one would have to make a new poll now. We reached 100 votes before her mission was available, so it's theoretically safe to say that the playerbase is more satisfied with the game than not.
At least, satisfied up until the faye lou mission lol.
Satisfied with what you get for $60, yes for sure. Satisfied with it as an evolving live service game that is supposed to be a living, breathing, evolution of continuous content? 0/10 absolutely not. A tremendous failure of the highest degree on the second point.Originally Posted by Merphee Go to original post
For me, it became apparent very early on that the devs had learned little from Div 1. I stuck with it as I liked the IP and held hope they would get it right....but it's been disappointment after disappointment, with little in between to reverse things.
WONY did bring a bit of new content and story but IMO not enough to justify the price. Summit is boring and pales to the resistance/wave missions from Div 1. Seasons not much better with pointless rehashing of same content for barely any story addition..... it's just boring, though I will still complete it to satiate my OCDHaven't quite got to Lau yet...Keener ending was a big disappointment, so not holding out hope. Premium track in seasons is just pure money grab bs...
Survival in Div 1 was good, shame they didn't do something similar here.
Optimisation in D2 was pants on head nuts expensive on release. It's a bit better but now too cheap IMO...IMO they could have replicated the system from 1, made it a little more expensive and it would have been fine.
Started off at a 6, did go up to about a 7, almost 8, for a while but then has steadily declined to barely a 3 now. I stopped watching SOTG as it was just constant BS week after week and obvious they were not listening....at times I swear they were playing a different game to us!
This franchise has/had so much potential....but I think it has/is being squandered.
7, really. I gave it a 7. I have put nearly 2000 hrs into the game. I got way more than my money's worth, too.
Top things about the game:
- Excellent gear system now that facilitates a lot of build and play diversity
- Great raids and other group content and missions that are perfectly balanced for groups or solos
- Excellent community for the most part that is helpful and supportive and often answers calls for backup
- Great content additions like Summit, Manhunts, Leagues and Global events
- Targeted loot system that helps those who want to target specific loot and gain items fast
- Strong(I know not perfect) crafting system and recalibration system that helps people hedge out bad RNG. (I had personally used crafting to create a build to kill Keener and leave NYC on my first run)
- Recent series of balance changes that have allowed almost every weapon type to be viable
Before you call me a white knight. Let me point out that I have been really tough on the devs. Really I have. Some of my posts have ticked off the white knights so much that I am certainly on their collective ignore lists. Some actively and aggressively hate my existence and I politely return that feeling.
Past gripes include:
- Server Client Funtime disasters (one shot hyena super bullets, npc's stuck behind walls that aren't supposed to exist, walls mysteriously appearing out of nowhere, teleporting NPC's etc)
- Lack of ingame pick up group supports for the Raid (They still rely on discord which is an outside provider that they don't own)
- Severe lack of communication regarding certain big events and often we as the players have to rely on data miners to find out if there is even going to be additional content in some cases less than a month before release.
- Obscure path to power that resulted in player confusion with gear (Admittedly, they have fixed this one to a significant degree)
- Too much developer trust in often extremely untrustworthy content creators to educate the playerbase (Marco, Widdz, etc)
Overall, the good outweighs the bad. The bad though does discourage people in that they think the game they love doesn't have a future. Seriously Devs, you guys really need to not just comfort us when there are bugs. We need to know the game we love has a future...
2.
The game started out really good in my opinion, with all the talents and fun ways to make builds it was actually enjoyable...as someone who doesn't dabble with build crafting/theory.
Gear 2.0 felt like a punch in the gut, reminded me of how Div 1 had very little meaningful gear talents outside of Gear Sets/Classified sets. (Who else remembers the Credits per headshot kill talent?)
Enemies were broken (AI breaking cover to rush and slap, or racing a whole block away...which went on and on, and kept rearing its head every other update it seemed)
I'm in the mindset with after Gear 2.0/WoNY that it felt like Div 1.3 all over again with how hard enemies were hitting with their inflated health/armor pools. I know others really enjoy the challenge, but honestly to me it felt like I was shooting sandbags even with an optimized build. It wasn't fun, it felt like enemy stats were being inflated for the sake of padding out time spent in game or to prolong a section/mission under the guise of a 'challenge'.
Apparel "Events" were the only real time any actual updates to the MTX shop was made, and lets not forget how they changed how often you received Apparel Event Keys after the first two events. It went from receiving 1 key every other level, to almost not getting any on a level up, then it was changed to every 3 levels, and finally made into every 4 levels you would receive a key. Again this felt like just a means to pad out the "Event" and for anyone who didn't rush through levels (exploit power leveling by using the open world target shooting event) ran the risk of missing out. (FOMO tactics am I right?)
I'd get way too burnt out on the Seasons, so I never completed them. The manhunts were okay, I never felt invested enough in the stories...but whether that was from just plain game burn out or how they were handled (rehashed missions).
One other thing and it's probably just me, I was strangely disappointed at how little new guns we had in Div 2 (at the start)...all of Div 1's weapons were brought in but there was nothing new in the arsenal for a good while in Div 2 which I thought was odd...but that might be me setting my expectations a bit high.
Did I have fun? At the start and up until completing WoNY. Everything after just felt forced to me for the sake of prolonging the life span. (For instance, the seasons and the premium season pass...it's all the rage nowadays with the 'exclusives')
Nah, it was weird to me as well.Originally Posted by Lucky_Fat_Cat Go to original post
Most weapons from Division 1 came over, and I think the Alejandro is the only one that didn't make it. But in retrospect, I think it was a matter of taking a look at the weapon meta in Division 1 and realizing only two were mainly used while most were ignored. So here are all of the other weapons from the last game, but in a new weapon climate.
That and taking advantage of licensing contracts.
....You know, Massive should sunset some weapons.![]()
