Yeah and that's the thing. Old Tom Clancy games would be good examples for what I was trying to explain in my post in this thread. For Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, it uses the same game engine for all platforms. The original Xbox has better hardware than PlayStation 2 and GameCube, and therefore game devs were able to take full advantage of the hardware of Xbox and PC. You can see the drastic graphical differences between the consoles on the same game. It's like playing a completely different game for PS2 and GC. There were two different dev teams assigned for Splinter Cell Double Agent. One for Xbox, PS2, GC and the Wii and the other for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Like Chaos Theory, there's still graphical difference when comparing Xbox to PS2, GC and Wii. It's the hardware the game engines run on and usually game devs have to cutback just so it would optimize properly for consoles. Gamers love to use the words 'downgraded graphics', but they don't understand that game devs often have to sacrifice some aspects of the game so it would run properly.
Game devs often create optical illusions as alternatives in order to achieve visual scenery that would otherwise be heavily taxing.
COD can do more than 5v5.
Battlefield more than 5v5.
Multiple respawning vehicles.
Multiple game-modes, ballistics etc...all on consoles.
Like i said before...i hope theyve roided it up for some 32v32 conquest, even 12v12 CTD/STS/TDM. 6 vehicles each team. All options of course, for the mapper/lobby host.
Big maps with jets, jet-packs, jet-skis, skis.
Heli's, tanks, jeeps, 3-wheelers.
Trampolines, elevators, star-gates.
Grant us a workshop, where we can share not only maps, but assets too.
Some of these things were being speculated about even before FC3 was released (kinda comparing to what Dice were doing over in Battlefield).
For sure its a more focused single player game, and the engines probs more optimised for that, but, 8v8 FC2 (2008) to 5v5 FC5 (2018)....dont think anyone predicted/speculated that.

The way a game world is perceived is via the HUD and is what persuades players when comparing games. If Ubi abandons the Dunia HUD for Far Cry they abandon the look and feel, the perception and the concepts for distance. This comparison of game versions is about multi-player. Far Cry 2 is my favourite and still stands out as the best version for mp in many ways; perhaps the Canadians were inspired ahead of the curve.
There's a proverb, "If it's not broke don't fix it," and you might have noticed Land Rovers are still popular. Maybe the wrong people are in charge of computer game design, and they are incapable of registering in their brains that what made a game successful ought to be kept in the next version. Perhaps the decision makers at Ubi are confused about the difference between a new game and a new version of an old game. New people with new ideas are good to push the boundaries and create new game concepts, but for a new version of a popular game it's nonsense to abandon the successful elements. New concepts in a new game (old name) or new concepts with the previously successful game elements? Is it really that hard to grasp? Releasing a new version should not mean change, bigger and better, just for the sake of change.
What makes a game succcessful? Take Starcraft. SC races have units with different abilities; say Terran has Helion with speed and ranged flame thrower. To counter that, a Zerg player could use an airborne unit that's good against ground targets. Successful concept, millions of players and world chamionships. Contrast that with Far Cry 2 mp balance in weapons, there were different weapons that could counter each other and that was the balance in competing teams.
Maybe somebody should start a KickStarter to fund a re-designed FC2 mp, the best elements of FC2 or other versions that fans liked. We're all wasting time if we wait for Ubi to use the ideas from forum wish lists.

It's bizarre - Ubi just launched a Fankit and details of new end-game single player content to pacify us until the release in October 2021. Is Ubi going to sell a game only for single player?
Any Ubi dev want to join some enthusiastic industrious Far Cry fans to start a crowd fund? Yeah I'm serious. Far Cry mp could be the sort of game that develops into leagues and challenges, as in StarCraft. Starcraft has been played for 11 years!
Btw, I have a large number of user maps for Far Cry 2. Maybe they can be converted? About 10% of them are usable but it's one hell of a start (we're talking thousands..)
