Dunia engine is kind of terrible in FC5 and New Dawn. Sure the game in 100 plus fps range but sometimes it dips into the 50s during intense firefight compare to the Division 2, Breakpoint and Valhalla which is much more detailed than FC5 and New Dawn which I get 100 plus fps max with 80s during firefight. Soo I'm asking if this gonna be the upgraded Dunia Engine or just heavily modified old one?![]()
Unfortunately, it seems it is "just heavily modified old one", which is Dunia 2 engine. I found out about this a few minutes ago. Though the general idea is that this engine is constanly being developed, it still is Dunia 2 engine so I made my peace with constant stuttering in most of the auto saves. My only concern at this point is that... No, I should stop here. I don't want to be banned.

I fear we will see only 5v5 TDM again for PvP.
I made my peace with it. Now, I wouldn't say it is a bad engine even with constant auto-save stuttering. There's one thing that still bothers me though. You ram a person with your SUV, a jeep, or what have you, straight on and the person just gets gradually pushed, tripping a little eventually. He/she stands back up like they slipped on something. And devs made a challenge based on that activity. That was, without a doubt, a horrible gameplay design.
It's interesting how you guys are badmouthing a game engine that was once among the best nearly 13 years ago that can compete with Crysis's CryEngine 2 and Unreal Engine 3, and both CryEngine 2 and Dunia are successors to CryEngine 1. Far Cry 2 still holds up to this day and all Far Cry games from 2012 and onward had to make some sacrifices on technicality for gameplay purposes due to hardware limitations of the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. There's significant graphical differences on Far Cry 4 between the seventh (Xbox 360, PS3) and eighth (Xbox One, PS4) generation of video game consoles. Now that Far Cry 6 is part of the ninth generation (Xbox Series X, PS5), hopefully game developers won't hold back.
I don't think it's Dunia that you guys should have a problem with, it should be the hardware the games run on. PC versions tend to match their console counterparts, which can be an unfortunate setback. When I played Ghost Recon Breakpoint on PC and on Xbox One, I noticed the frames per second drops on Xbox One. Dunia has always been optimized for consoles, whereas CryEngine 2 was straight up PC. Eventually CryEngine 3 is designed to optimize for consoles as well.
While Snowdrop and AnvilNext are both impressive, they're definitely made for different games. The only first person shooters that run on AnvilNext would be Rainbow Six Siege and Hyper Scape, and neither have operable vehicles. While Breakpoint and Wildlands do, I can see the limits they have that Far Cry does not. Especially if both games were designed to be third person, AnvilNext's open world seems to cater for third person games such as Assassin's Creed. While yes Dunia can appear outdated, that can depend on what the game developers are striving for. Far Cry 2's Dunia shows better destruction such as tree branches being destroyed whereas Far Cry 5's Dunia does not. In my opinion I'd say the gameplay of Far Cry 5 is more fun than Far Cry 2's.
We haven't seen any gameplay of Far Cry 6, so don't underestimate Dunia if Ubisoft is aiming to take full advantage of the power of the Xbox Series X and PS5. Since Far Cry 6 is also on Xbox One and PS4, it may have some setbacks.

If you want to criticize those who "badmouths" or those who say that Far Cry 5 has "bad graphics" and such, I think you're in the wrong post. If my or others opinion about where they weren't satisfied in the game have made you upset and turn you defensive about it, then that is unfortunate. Thank you.
I'm not criticizing nor am I upset, I find it really bizarre. I'm aware that people have different standards in different eras, but I just find it really weird and odd where it was once among the best is labeled 'bad' and 'terrible'. I may have a problem with gamers who have unrealistic high expectations, but there are times I just think gamers can become absurd with what they say. I'm just saying that Far Cry 2 competed with Crysis in graphics back then, and games like Crysis back then happened to be complete system hogs where only gamers with extremely high end PCs can play it.Originally Posted by KarliN. For me the way fire worked in FC2 was, and still is, the best ive ever seen. Truly remarkable for the time.
As a solely MP player, the games gone downhill since 2 imo. Less players, less vehicles, less modes, terrible balancing...and some very strange design choices.
I simply cannot believe some of these flaws were by design...moreover the engines limitation. Of course it could be said that ubi doesnt really care for MP in FC, which saddens me some, as it used to have alot of die-hard fans!
Where they all go?? lol
