My advice do not buy this DLC you will regret it.

But it's entirely up to you of course but believe me it's that bad.

Having read the comments ive deleted the game from my switch not to be tempted to buy any other dlc. The game itself was very fun and enjoyable but their choice to bring dlc not connected to the base game is a very bad one. Im just glad i didnt buy the season pass.

CelesteJak, I won’t even try. I am 71 and also an experienced beta tester (I am even a goddess in one series I tested haha). Elderly hands cannot manage precise platforming. The devs are probably young and just don’t understand. ‘Story’ mode was a great idea but when the story itself requires completion of specific vaults with heavy-duty platforming....nope, sorry, that’s a near miss, guys.

My guess here is that the devs took a bunch of quests/vaults that didn’t make the final cut for the main game, cobbled together a story, and released it as dlc. The only really nice thing appears to be the art, which I will never see anyplace except on youtube.

I wish these companies would use older, experienced testers on their beta teams. I am now retired (after 40 years as a software developer) and would happily volunteer.

That's exactly what I thought, they just took some remaining "parts" and put them altogether as an "expansion". And it really looks beautiful and nice when you start to play, but later on you realize what's going on.

I am one of those gamers that if I start playing something I really must finish it (with one HUGE exception: Left Alive)

And since I quit A New God DLC it's been niggling in my head that I should finish it.

It seems these trials have left a sour taste in a lot of players' mouths.

If the next DLC has vaults, for me personally - that's fine as it is part of the game, but PLEASE make them fun and rewarding.

Initial game is absolutely amazing! The DLC is bottom tier garbage with broken puzzles and repetitive design. Feels like it's not even the same team who made it....

Isn't it awful? This was one of the worst DLCs I have ever seen. I am on subscription but if I had paid extra for this DLC I would have wanted my money returned. Hopefully the developers are paying attention and do less of the reflex cr*p and more of the great stuff from Immortals. The first DLC is a throwaway and someone should be ashamed of all of it but the dialogue.

Good to know I am not the only former beta tester with the same complaints. I wonder sometimes if these gaming companies realize the HUGE demographic (Older players who started with Snipes or Pong who are now retired, have time and a bit of extra spending money for games) they are missing out on. There is a pretty good game called Supraland, lots of puzzles, bright graphics, no foul language to speak of and limited timed or reflex dependent puzzles, that I really liked. Even the few timed puzzles had work arounds if you gave them some thought. I know on the Immortals main game in most vaults I could find more than one way to do them...around the edges, etc. I think about four of them I had to miss out on but the others had some kind of work around. They need to keep older players in mind if they want more sales. Leaving out some of the nastier language, using humor like Fenyx (loved the humor), and providing ways to use your mind instead of depending on quick reflexes as an alternative to puzzle solution would go a long way toward securing more players. That plus always insuring there is a single player version so older players don't have to compete with teens would bring in an entirely new group of loyal players, particularly if they went to the trouble to promote it that way. They could offer the work arounds as an option in the menu so you could play either way. So much they can do ....now let's see if they are listening.

I agree. Unless you like reflex puzzles and pay less than four dollars, it is not worth the money. The ONLY good thing about it was the dialogue and that is a real shame.

There are so many vaults in the base game and for some reason they believe that gamers wanted more of it and not just more only vaults? Am I the only one that was expecting a new island instead of this mess?
No..you will be happy to hear, I hope, that I also expected an island and not this mess. I was so disappointed in everything but the dialogue and had I not been on subscription would have asked for a refund...and that takes a lot of bad for me to do that.

No...they were not easier on the PC. It was just plain bad, regardless of the controller. Hopefully a different design team will do the next ones, or this will be the end of my subscription.

I think it’s funny. I have had kids ask, ‘You play video games??’ Like they’re all bewildered. I played D&D before their parents were born! Of course I play video games!

I might not be the target demographic...but then again, maybe I SHOULD be! I am retired, I have time to kill and money to spend. I don’t need to ask mom or dad for permission to use their credit card. I have close to 100 hours spent with Fenyx and I just freed the fourth god yesterday. With the exception of the few vaults I gave up on, I am having a blast! Haven’t had this much fun since BotW. The arrow challenges are fun, the constellations are a joy to solve, I like the frescos...I rarely bother trying the navigation challenges because, timed...nope. But overall it’s a great game!

So I am really sad to know that this DLC is pretty much out of the question...

That's absolutely not about how old are you, game design is awful and that's it, so let's not focus on that. I'm 35+, I played a lot of games and I can for sure beat this DLC but I keep asking myself, should I? It's not fun. My wife even younger and she just can't do all this keyboard piano. She already had problems with some vaults in a main game but main game lets you skip most of them or bypass with alternative ways. In DLC laws of physics are scripted to work differently with a lot of hacks to force you into a platformer way of doing things (with pretty bad control over a character at the same time).

Since I am bad at platforming in general, I can’t say if my problems in this game are design-based, or just my problem. Some of my frustrations have been:

Trying to time a jump, and instead of jumping, Fenyx glues herself to a nearby wall and starts climbing. Sigh...

Or using my ability to slow down an arrow, only to have the arrow hit a target and Fenyx immediately leaps backwards off a cliff because it’s the same button for both.

Or trying to land on a small platform and missing because the camera angle doesn’t let me determine when I am in the right spot.

I don’t know if these are technical issues or design choices, but if it’s the latter, IMO they were poor choices.
