Status / skill build viability in Heroic or Legendary

If you're already a believer (or user) of status builds I'd skip this thread entirely. I made this one at my son's behest because too many of his buddies think status builds are weak and/or not viable in difficult challenges.

Now I rarely have the time to do Heroic or Legendary missions, but this is a Heroic bounty and I think gives a small glimpse of how powerful a maxed out status build can be, especially running solo. I barely used my Scorpio in this encounter, but seeing how devastating it is combined with this build would be a video unto itself.

P.S. Does it make me a sadist that I still crack up over the NPC sounds when burning? - (LOL)

Looks good, although I do have a question:

Every enemy in that encounter except the named guys was purple or red. Barring the one heavy, which is always elite. How sure are you that despite the world being set to heroic, that this was actually a heroic level bounty?

Heroic level bounties always have 3 targets, as this one does, to kill.

Yep. if it's three targets its Heroic. There are no Challenging or Hard bounties with three targets. If you look again there are other Elites besides the named targets and the one Heavy, but they are only on the roof (I killed one around the 2:50 mark). Like any bounty, the first "round" (lower floor in this case) is the easy guys.

Plus, just like Heroic and Legendary missions, remember that the reds and purples in a Heroic bounty are a heck of a lot tougher than those you encounter in the open world.

Are they? I've never noticed, actually.

Yep. Wandering in the street or doing any mission on Hard or less my status build is almost useless. Seems contradictory, doesn't it? But it's true: reds in any of those situations die so fast from my Firestarter that the status ticks never transfer to another NPC. The guys right in the immediate burn area die instantly but it doesn't go anywhere else (like you see in the video).

This is why when shepherding a lower SHD player through a story-level game I put on one of my run-n-gun load-outs.

I get 4x Eclipse, Exotic mask, and maxed out Status (Gear 6x), but what else do you use for the other as the last gear?

1 piece Golan gives you another 10% status effects as brand bonus.

Ok, yeah, I see what you mean now. That's definitely a problem I've noticed as well. Literally TOO MUCH damage for Eclipse protocol to work like it's meant to.

Mine is 4x Eclipse, all rolled for max (+10%) status effects. All gear mods are at (or near) max skill haste - I think my lowest is +11.6% (of possible 12%).

Mask is a Vile, which was near god roll and I optimized it up so now it is. Vile has a max skill haste mod also.

I used to have a Golan or Wyvern set of gloves (forgot exactly which) that was +10% haste and status, but at around 720k armor I was uncomfortably squishy. Then a god roll pair of Belstone gloves dropped, and it was the perfect "fix" to this build. It added max armor, max health, and already had a max status effects on it too. Effectively I only lost 10% haste but gained a lot of toughness, plus the constant armor regen from the brand set (which you can see helped a lot in the vid).

My weapons for the longest time were a god roll Pestilence and Harmony rifle, but I've since switched to a god roll Test Subject, which has the exact same talent as Harmony in AR form (you can see the buffs at work when I finish off the final heavy) and my secondary is a near-god roll Scorpio, for when the fighting gets close up. Combined with the status buffs it's brutal in close-range combat.

This is my preferred grind set, and faster than literally anything when in a rush or doing speed runs.

Let me know if anything I can answer of help with.
