Amber Sky debrief
Let's get into it.
There were lack of nuances from the beginning. No formal introduction of the R6 team in dialog. No explanation of how they arrived on the island. Another confusing element is that this was supposed to be a Rainbow operation, but Nomad was the primary contact for Lesion on all of the missions? As it should have played out, Scott Mitchell should have been the one to give Nomad the initial brief in Erewhon. After the radio transmission, the player's checkpoint should have been outside of Erewhon where he meets the R6 team. One of the R6 members should have been Lesion's primary contact, not Nomad. Nomad's role should have been as a guide on the island due to his experience being there. It also should have been a priority for Nomad to notify Mads and Haruhi of the gas clouds.
Buildings emerging from nowhere just for the event could have been given some context on how they got there. They also should have been designed as sectional pieces that could rapidly be put together as opposed to massive 2 story buildings that can't be explained as to what transported them to their locations. Personally, I would have gone with 2 options. The first would be to put military cargo trucks in Auroa, big enough to haul the deployable structures. I would also include cargo lift helicopters. This gives players a visual understanding of how these military installations get transported and assembled where they are located. The other option would have been to utilize the construction sites already around Auroa as the event mission locations. Sadly, you didn't make the world dynamic to show progression of the construction, so that leaves the first option as the better choice.
There was no logical sense to make Nomad's gas mask as the only mask on Auroa that required it's filter changed every 3 to 4 minutes. The masks should have also had eye protection as well. It also made no sense to make the game's already existing gas masks incompatible with the event. I was also surprised for the lack of other CBRNE cosmetics that could have been introduced to the game as early rewards in the event.
I found the missions themselves enjoyable. The least favorite was the boat mission where there's no explainable reason for Sentinel troops to be on every dock with barrels floating on the water. The lack of explanation made the mission out of place and terribly scripted. The most favorite was the mission of getting the plane to the landing area and facing an ambush. However, the beacon should have been a light on the exterior of the plane and not a beeping transmitter that Nomad only heard after exiting the plane. Another nuance missed here, Nomad should have radioed Mads or Haruhi to set up an LZ immediately after his dialog with the rescued doctor. The LZ should have looked like it was rushed to be set up. It should have only had flares to line the runway and at the end of the runway should have been vehicles that the rebels arrived in. And one thing about the plane itself... why is Auroa using the same prop planes from Boliva? The UAVs are jet propulsion.. the Bolivian planes simply don't fit the setting.
