This mission took me six tries...
Insertion:
1. BASE jump to building from Bivoac - not enough altitude - Fast travel back
2. Jump from helicopter to building roof - success
Extraction:
(Start by sync shotting enemies near the runway)
1. Landed but hit barricade along the side of the runway - Fail
2. Came into the airstrip a bit too low and slow... hit the cliff face - Fail
3. Nailed it - but died from unexpected assault
4. Placed mines before checking plane - success!
I didn't enjoy that much for mine first 2 attempts because of a bad behavior of the bots. They're wasn't approaching, so, mission wasn't progressing. First time I tried to go hunt'em down but resulted in mission failure for abandoning the objective (?!). Second time they stuck, I just wait, until game's alert state was cleared (they give up searching for me), and mission went on. Almost no fight at all.Originally Posted by LCUChap2016 Go to original post
After completing, I played the mission again, and finally enjoyed the fight.
I miss some missions like that, or a "heat" system, sometimes, to really have a good fight.
I remember first time playing Wildlands. Soon after starting the game, I tried to invade a UNIDAD base but got caught. Man, those reinforcements, and choppers... That was a huge and exciting fight.
Yeah ofc cleared outside the admin bldg and around the helipad,my badOriginally Posted by MikeWeeks Go to original post![]()
I don't know if I'm misreading everybody's posts, because this mission was not difficult, nor was it exciting. In any way, at any point.
I redid this mission yesterday to maybe help out a few people that seemed to have issues with finding a good approach to the airstrip, so I did it during the daytime to allow for better visibility on the clips, but this mirrors my initial experience of doing it at night.
Landing on the roof, even with the SC chopper alerted enemies and caused a mission failure. Fair enough, they should see or hear a helo landing on a roof with the dozen or so guys that are spattered around the base.
(Please forgive the complete lack of editing on these clips)
The AI is pathetically lame:

The flight out of there, and the associated landing, is completely uneventful and unexciting:

And the "exciting" finale:

I came here too see if anyone else was having trouble with this mission. So... yeah
The invisible SAMs are a crime against game design. It absolutely ruins this mission. There were a few times in this event where I felt like I was back in a 2002 era shooter. Like the river mission with weirdly spaced fire teams along the shore and the arbitrarily but strategic exploding barrels. Give me a break.
Now the plane mission. "We have to use my plane the data is in it." So what? Move to a truck and drive out of the area covered by SAMs. SAMs, did we mention the invisible SAMs. Why can't we move the boxes? I have myself and 3 Tier 1 operatives, pretty sure we can move the data just fine. "No no, we have to use the plane... for reasons... lazy level design magic reasons." When the only option the player has is a stupid option that a microgram of common sense can see through, then your writing has failed.
First, the SAMs are not invisible, do a little recon and you'll see them haphazardly placed around the area(Unless you're referring to the actual missile, then you've got about a 50/50 chance of them rendering). Second, SAMs are irrelevant anyway. Watch my 2nd clip, you literally fly in a straight line for 3km, then turn left and land. Total flight time is less than 2 minutes.Originally Posted by Milarichani Go to original post
Consistently inconsistent.
Using the SC stealth chopper, landing in that exact same spot, caused an alert both at night and during the day for me.
Although historical evidence would suggest that it's likely the "stealth" chopper is only that in name and audio, and could be a simple reskin/reaudio of the regular choppers with no actual difference in programmed behaviors.
Simply wondering - what difficulty level as well as did you recon w/ drone prior, to see if any NPCs were in the area that constitutes the front part of the bldg and main gate area?Originally Posted by Ageless93 Go to original post
In my successful para jump, there were three dudes in that area - so I did a straight "dive-bomb" near-vertical drop to the roof.
Speaking of jumping ...
Anyone have a successful BASE jump?
In doing post-mission tests and looking at some YT vids:
1. Can't get my character to stand facing the bldg and jump - simply refuses to do so. Jumps when aligned with the platform edge, but not at an angle, even when at the edge.
2. Can't reach the bldg - most likely due to having to turn to align with that bldg.
I'n on PC, so it appears that by holding the "s" key that's the method to get the most distance and minimal drop - in both free-fall and under canopy.
