I haven't played this game before but decided to try this free weekend. It was fun - until this mission. I suck at driving *any* vehicles in games like this and planes are the worst... and I am just tired of saving the doctor again and again. I don't think I'll be trying again, it's just not fun. I was also thinking about buying the game before this but now I'm not sure, I'm just too frustrated and annoyed at this point. I might just go play something that doesn't have planes in it![]()
Yeah you are right. I just was feeling *really* frustrated with this task (and with myself for not being able to get the hang of it). But now after taking bit of a break I'll probably go and play some other part of the game for a bit and see how I'll feel then.I don't think if because one is stuck in one mission should be considered the main factor to no purchase a game
Thanks![]()
4 attempts and I haven't found the runway to land on. First attempt I rode up and down the runway trying to figure out how to lift off and ended up crashing at the end of the runway. When I did manage to lift off 2nd attempt flipped over and crashed, 3rd attempt ran into some trees, 4the attempt ran into a cliff side. I watched a video of where the runway is but nothing I saw resembled what I am seeing. I may sit on the runway with the doctor until it's daylight and try again. No NV mode resolve the seeing the landscape seem to be effective inho.
This is funny, wish we had more threads about the actual game content and not just dressing up...
This was my experience.
Turned up at the airport without reading the briefing. Spent 5 mins walking around the building with locked doors. Then died trying to base jump off the tower, got saved by my magic new friends.
Stole the helicopter and managed to para on too the roof, alone, which was nice because team AI is the worst bit about GR and I didn't like the new content forcing it.
Got DR and cleared my way to the plane, all still 1st attempt. At this point I'd like to highlight I use echelon with only pistol and sasg12.
So, I land the plane 1st try, and think I'm awesome. (1st time in a plane in breakpoint but hours spent flying in Wildlands)
Then I push square to trigger the assault. Now I'm left thinking, bollox.. obviously I should of taken an anti aircraft gun to my stealthy night time airport rescue mission. Doh!
What followed was a very lengthy battle with 2 helicopters followed by trying to fight wolves with no ammo.. I obviously failed.
Re-try with mk48 compact (my go too noisy gun) and it was just another fair-ground duck hunt... And apparently I saved the world again without breaking a sweat! Stupid mission to top off stupid dlc. And back to finish god of war, BOY!
The checkpoint if you fail to land the plane is very poor and should have been changed. You do have to give yourself a really wide flight path to be able to turn and align yourself with the airstrip, and as some have pointed out, slowing down as much as you can helps. You want to avoid having to do any kind of heading change as you come in to land so fly around a few times to pick out the landmarks that will give you a straight line approach.
I ended up flying back across the strip from the other direction at about 100m above and then flying in a straight line to identify some way points in line with the strip. I then practiced that line a few times, without landing, just so I could check that I would hit the airstrip straight. I couldn't face another repeat of clear tower, parachute to building, clear building, find new filter, clear strip, steal plane and crash so I flew around for ages to get it right. Then the Wolves attacked and I set everything to easy as I'd had enough that day.
Loving the honesty.. I've just finished Days Gone* so a horde of wolves felt like a bunch of asthmatic pensioners, with similar suicidal tendencies to the zombies tho..Originally Posted by AI BLUEFOX Go to original post

I'm finally at this fun fun mission, was looking forward to flying the plane, as actually I have flown planes in this game before (they're in there, dotted in grassy spots, I always wondered what they did there. There's always also one at this and the other airport so you can always turn off world event and go test). But alas I was trying to kill some Sammies with my helicopter (I landed on the roof and took off from it with the doctor), but forgot about that SAM launcher. So I'll replay this when I'm in the right mindset, which isn't now as I'm hungry. Going to make dinner first.
