If the plane's controls were better, it would be a lot easier; but the control layout for planes is absolute garbage. The checkpoints on this mission are also poorly done. I nearly gave up on this mission, on what I had decided would be my final attempt before flipping the whole thing the bird I managed to stick a really awkward landing just off the runway then was able to taxi to the waypoint. For some reason when I got out of the plane the throttle was in reverse (that's a thing on turboprop planes??) and the plane began slowly backing down the runway. It finally stopped when I went to inspect the cargo, but then the mission failed me for being too far away from the target area. Thankfully getting the plane to the waypoint is a checkpoint, so I didn't have to clear the entire effing airport for the 63rd time.
I would now like to add myself to the list of very frustrated people in regards to Drastic Remedy and the plane. I've tried it about four times now and got tired of having to start over each time. Why in the world can't the devs gives us a checkpoint after rescuing the good doctor? I think it's downright sadistic to make us restart the whole thing. I was actually enjoying this live event up until this mission. So to everyone in this thread that is struggling with this, I feel your pain.
Using some of the tips provided earlier I actually got through this mission and with my two other characters was able to land the plane on first try both times. using ctrl, slowing the plane made all the difference in the world for me. The base itself I mostly tried to kill minimal enemy. Some times it worked, sometimes not, but there being no requirement to not be detected made it simple enough.
After my first character run through I

I have now completed Amber Sky with all 3 characters and turned it off in world settings as I never want to see this orange sh1t again.
I must admit I was swearing at the plane after about 5 or 6 attempts to evade the SAMs and land the dang thing.
A couple tips from my own experience of it:-
If you're on PC, change the control layout if you don't like it. I found it a bit easier to use one hand for throttle
and the other for pitch and roll. Didn't bother using the mouse to look around as by then I knew where I
needed to go anyway. It still wasn't pretty but I managed to land the plane and complete the mission.
To avoid the SAMs, stay low after takeoff and fly directly towards the waypoint marker until you're about 500m out,
then turn right and climb a bit, heading for a small conical hill. Fly close past the right side of the hill then do a 180
turn to the left around the hill at just above hill height. You'll end up facing the runway at a pretty good height. Land
it with small corrections and a shallow approach.
Hope that's helpful, I know how frustrated you feel. The planes really do suck to fly.
I actually banked out of the airport, went left and low over the ocean then circled around clockwise to the airport avoiding all the SAMsOriginally Posted by Celo_X Go to original post
Well, my fellow Ghosts, I happy to report that I was finally able to complete this mission just now!! Whew, I'm glad that is over!! I fused together some of the great advice given in this thread and finally got 'er done. One thing that I did want to add that finally got me through the plane part was how I located the entrance of the runway, as that was a big part of my struggle. There is an Abandoned Site and Toxic Storage Depot that is located Southeast of the runway entrance, and these pretty much line up with that entrance. So I aimed my plane for the Abandoned Site and then started turning the plane to the left to get over the Toxic Storage Depot. This gave me about as straight of a view of the runway that I could hope for. I then did like others have said and decelerated as I approached the landing. Good gracious, that was a good feeling when those tires hit that ground!! Lol. I sincerely hope this might help anyone else who is struggling with this.
