I've just finished my 5th solo run on legendary floors 1-100. I'm not one to complain much, and rarely post. I just got to know, what is the actually confirmed (via Dev) drop chance for the Bighorn with legendary summit? I've ran all the floors, attempted to farm bosses on floors 70-100 multiple times, and killed the hunters at the end. If i had to estimate the boss kill count with farming, it would be somewhere in the range of 220-250 bosses killed.
The question I'm asking myself is, "What is a reasonable drop rate". Now, I'm not asking for handouts, and I understand that RNG is RNG. Maybe it was incredibly optimistic of me to think of attaining this particular weapon was reasonable to get within that range, I don't know. I do understand that I feel a little more defeated, and less inclined to run through each consecutive time. I'm not angry, nor do I expect the world to cater to my needs and desires. But, as I sit here with my hand on my head, the idea of going back to the summit relays only one thought in my head, which is simply, "What's the point?"
As a solo player, I've attained all other exotics and gear I can achieve via solo play. I've happily accepted the fact that I'll probably never get the Eagle Bearer, Regulus, or Ravenous from raids, and that's fine with me. That's the price you pay for not grouping up. But, I figured this one I could get on my own with enough work, fair trade. At this point however, I think that withdrawing from Summit play just makes sense, from a time and effort perspective. Truth is, when you dangle the carrot too far, the mule doesn't walk.
Anyway, for those who have already attained the Bighorn, awesome. I think i'm going to tap out on this one.
Cheers!
I've gotten 5 Bighorn drops. Maybe just very lucky. Has always been in a group.
I've completed both raids over a 100 times, and if you are plowing though Legendary bosses and Hunters that quick to have that many boss kills, you're a better player than me.
Maybe matchmake to increase your odds - someone could drop it for you. With your skill level, even an average group should have little problems.
I think it may be even double that on the higher end for the strongholds.Originally Posted by xcel30 Go to original post
If the drop rate was 10% it doesn't mean if you do it ten times you will get one drop, it means every time you do it you have a 1/10 chance of a drop. So you could do it 100 times and get 100, unlikely but possible, at the other end you could do it 100 times and get none, also unlikely but possible, it's also possible to never get one to drop. The odds don't increase the more times you do it, it just gives you more chances, all down to lady luck I'm afraid.
And so much better than me, I'm just starting to do Heroic missions, I tried a Legendary and got my a** kicked well and truly.Originally Posted by mrwtw Go to original post
Got my Big Horn today from Summit, floor 60 Legendary solo, Assault rifles as targeted loot, 2 directives active (Fog of War and Ragers). I had been farming this floor ( killing the boss and letting the remaining enemies kill you) since last night and it dropped today. I don't know how many times it took (wasn't counting), but I got it and I like it a lot!!
Made 2 builds with it (thanks Youtube!), and it is quite a nice weapon.
1st build is from MadNiv on Youtube: 3-piece True Patriot (for bigger magazine and ammo count) 1 Fenris chest -Weapon Damage, Crit Damage, Crit Chance, with Crit Chance mod and Intimidate as the talent. Memento Backpack with a Crit chance mod, True Patriot Mask with Armor, Crit Damage, Crit Chance. True Patriot Gloves with Armor, Crit damage. True Patriot Holster with Armor and Crit chance, and Cseska Knee pads with Weapon Damage, Crit Chance, and Crit Damage. Striker Shield and Artificer Hive to keep the shield health up. I really like this one because I can run around like a madman and the trophy drops from Memento keep me from face-planting like the moron that I am. Edit: Technician specialization for Artificer Hive.
2nd build is as close as I can get to Foxes (I am Fox is his page on Youtube): 3-piece Providence, Coyote Mask, Fenris chest, Fox's Prayer Knees. Crit Damage and Crit chance on everything with crit damage mods once you've reached the 60% threshold ( you might need a couple of crit chance mods depending on the stats of the gear you have been able to acquire, but after you reach 60%, just use crit damage mods). Providence chest with Weapon Damage, crit chance, and headshot damage- would prefer crit damage, but this is also quite good with the weapon, and Overwatch for the talent. Providence backpack with Weapon damage, crit damage and weapon handling, with a crit chance mod (would prefer crit chance instead of weapon handling so I could focus on crit damage for all mods, but this is what I have) with Vigilance as the talent. Providence holster with Weapon damage, Crit chance, and Crit damage. Foxes prayer attributes: Armor, damage to target out of cover, and crit chance. I use a turret and a revive hive (turret to distract while I plunk heads and revive because I only have 906k armor). I find the turret lasts longer than the striker drone for distraction; you could use the striker shield if you want, but you have to keep moving with it, and it negates the talent on the chest piece. This build hits like a truck, but you can be overwhelmed if you don't position yourself properly. Edit: Gunner specialization for armor on kill, weapon handling, and Supply Line talent (10% of total ammo every 60 sec).
Both of these builds are great for heroic and they work very well in Legendary Summit Solo, provided you are patient enough to manipulate the enemies to play into your hands. I really like them a lot!!
Good luck getting your Big Horn!!
