Hey people !
So i was asking around the forums a week or so back about exotics and have gotten good pointers wrt that. I have the capacitor, chatterbox, a few parts for the nemesis and liberty, bullet king, btsu , memento, mantis.
However, to level up fast , what im seeing is one needs to run higher difficulty on missions, which seems like an impossible task for a beginner. Im SHD 32, and my build looks something like this :

But even if i try anything on heroic , im shot to death in a few seconds. How do i make a build , keeping in mind the exotics i have ? I tried looking up YT vids but couldnt make much sense of how to get the parts they were talking about. Like, one video had a build where they have 5-6 blue attributes called "protection from elites" but i dont have that mod and the gear they have seems to have different attributes than mine, even if its the same gear.
I think something with high survivability and good DPS will do, but i cant figure it out. Could somebody, in simple terms, explain what i can do to get started with a decent build ?
Meant for this to be short when I started, apologies.
At your current level, if leveling up is a main focus, you can run a basic "Razorback" build. You can get bored of it quick on difficulties you are comfortable with, but it makes those difficulties higher up much less stressful. Plus it's one of the easiest power builds to construct & even at it's lowest ability, it's effective. So gear pieces, mods, etc don't have to be even close to max rolls for the build to work well.
- Striker Drone
- Artificer Hive
- 4 Hard Wired Gear Pieces- HW Backpack Required for the backpack reduced cooldown bonus.
- 1 Wyvern Gear Piece (Any of the following- Mask/Holster/Gloves/Kneepads)
- 1 Hana U Chest Piece (Use a skill damage boosting talent such as Overwatch, Kinetic Momentum, or Glass Cannon)
- Skill Haste Gear Mods for Mask, Chest, & Backpack
- Health, Damage, & Duration mods for Striker Drone
- Duration & Range mods for Artificer Hive
- Technician Class (It offers superior unlockable mods for the A-Hive as well.)
- Highest possible Skill Damage Attribute roll on each gear piece.
The end result is being able to spam high damaging drones, in the sense of one after another whenever the current one is destroyed. Every time sending the drone out with a 70% damage boost briefly on top of it's top tier default damage thanks to the A-Hive on your backpack giving it a charge (the hive doesn't need to be deployed to boost your own skills). Whenever the drone is destroyed, simply drop the hive on the ground for a second to instantly recharge you're drone (activates the hard wired 4 piece ability). Plus lets say an emp grenade, emp station, or sniper warhound is about to activate/detonate near you...drop the A-Hive right before that & you'll prevent yourself from being disrupted. It's a very simple to use build, & allows you not to in any fashion take any risks at all if preferred while speed leveling. Thus you can use any weapons you want, a good build to practice your gun skills although your weapons won't be your heavy hitting factor.
Bonus: The build is completely unaffected by all current directives in freeroam, even the scavenged skills. That is because the short cooldown time of the drone with that build, means it is calculated to so few of those little skill chips, that dropping the A-Hive quickly still instantly refreshes the drone without having to actually pick up those things. So.....you can run a heroic control point with all directives, keeping a safe distance spamming high damage dealing drones nonstop as you allow the allied control point forces to charge in & take most of the heat. That banks a nice 1-2 level up per control point take over, & all rather quickly. (As long as you farm the easy control points). The build works like a charm in short missions on heroic like American History Museum to the same degree.
It's not the most pride inspiring build, but it works really well considering how easy it is to use & create. But it's a very practical way to breeze through heroic content like control points & missions without putting yourself in direct harm's way/allowing you to focus more on survival & area/map awareness as your drones tear the enemy apart.
I've used it on quite a few legendary runs when helping friends that are trying to get the bighorn, simply because of it allows me to support teammates without really jeopardizing my survival at all. However legendary is still a totally different animal, even with such a spammable build I'd highly advise ranking of the watch a bit & getting use to breezing through heroics before trying alot of legendarys solo with any type of build. Recently I've actually been using it again when helping some of my friends through their goal of beating all 100 floors of the Summit on Legendary with multiple directives on. I always keep it as the build for my 4th character, for just those specific occasions now since I used more advanced non-skill builds for solo play (such as my 2.1 million armor with 93K armor regen build).
If you don't like to rely on skills though, you'll just have to claw your way through loot to get solid defensive & offensive pieces until something can be built that will allow harder difficulties to be used for quick leveling. So it's totally up to you/the playstyle preference, but it's an option. *Again apologies for the long post, that's thanks to over 6 long years of helping with cash grinding & vehicle location topics in the gta forums. lol

the point is to get a high damage drone and let it do the work , from what i get. Ill try this out stat after i get all the pieces. Thank you, again !
Uh...how do i do that exactly ? Just give me a few basic pointers, ill try to figure the rest outOriginally Posted by IXI_ROGUE_IXI Go to original post
just gives me a kill confirmed thing and a good extra DPS on the capacitor thats about it. any suggestions are welcome though. i dont know much about these talents etc on buildsOriginally Posted by BT3241 Go to original post
This is something most people won't tell you, largely because they either disagree with it or don't fully understand it themselves. And I've been accused on multiple occasions of being elitist, but all I'm doing is like Morpheus from "The Matrix": Offering the truth.Originally Posted by Wraith_9z Go to original post
Even though The Division 2 is an RPG, it's also a third person shooter with a fairly high skill cap. There is a very large portion of the game that's based on your own personal skill and knowledge of the game, which can't be overcome fully by simply collecting better gear.
This is where the phrase "Git Gud" comes in, if you've ever heard it before.
Assembling a powerful build is only part of the equation. But you also need to practice, learn the spawns, and get better at aiming and being aware of what's going on around you. Some of that you can get by watching strategy videos on how to approach Legendary missions. But other parts you're just going to have to play until you get good at it. And no matter what anyone tells you, it's perfectly OK to play on hard or challenging.
Now, having just said that, putting together a strong build and getting good at using that build is also a big part of your success. There is no one single build that's going to be a sure-fire solution to get you started. But there are some which are generally better than others, and you should try them all to get a feeling for what you're more comfortable with. I've said this a few times in other threads, but here it is for clarity's sake:
"A person playing a build they enjoy and know like the back of their hand is going to result in better performance than some scrub following a flavor of the month build because someone told them it was META."
So....lets get into some details and some hard truths: What you linked as your build is not a build. You've got some pretty serious conflicts that I hope I can help you to understand, and move forward from there. And please understand that I'm not trying to be mean here, but if your goal is to solo heroic or legendary, you need to understand mistakes so you can correct them.
1) You've got Memento and a Capacitor exotic. This is a good foundation for A LOT of builds. This is good. However, the way you're currently using them doesn't make any sense. The Capacitor is an Assault Rifle intended for use with Skill-based builds. However, the rest of your gear appears to be tuned towards Red core, with mixed yellow and blue. It's not focused at all. Hybrid builds ARE possible, but requires a lot of very carefully tuned and selected gear to work well.
2) You haven't got any mods in your Mask/Chest/Back.
3) Your chest talent is....Entrench? Which is not a very good talent, and AFAIK intended for sniping builds.
4) You're wearing a Sokolov piece of gear but don't have an SMG equipped.
5) You're using Scanner Pulse and a Striker Drone. What is it about those two skills that you like?
6) You have a rifle with the Breadbasket talent.....is this meant to combine with your chest talent?
7) You're wearing a single piece of the Striker set. Why? If it's the best you've found so far, ok. But you should really be looking to find something better. Sets should generally only be worn in groups of 4 pieces. There are a few exceptions, but that's something for advanced players.
Without actually seeing you play, I can't really make any definitive statements about what you're doing right or wrong. But I'll try to make some suggestions based on what I've seen so far.
Read the Capacitor's talent carefully. It gains extra damage for having more Skill Tiers. This combines well with the Memento backpack you have, and the Striker Drone. If you want to keep going with that style, you're going to want to make some adjustments towards something more like this:
https://i.imgur.com/bDmnLnW.png
Your main focus with such a build is going to be to have Skill tier 6, which will maximize both your Striker Drone and your Capacitor. But you also want to be shooting a lot, which means your secondary attributes need to be as red as possible, with as close to 60% critical hit chance as you can get. In my build that I linked, you can see how I have one piece of Wyvern Wear and 3 pieces of Empress International for skills. But also a single piece of Fenris gear to boost damage on the Capacitor. All of it topped off with the Technician Specialization for the final Skill Tier.
You could VERY easily swap the Wyvern Wear piece for a Belstone Armory if you wanted more armor regen. But you'd have to recalibrate it to keep a Skill Tier instead of armor, or accept your drone and Capacitor doing slightly less damage.
The nice part about this build is that it doesn't matter where you equip the armor pieces. The fenris could be the chest, or the mask. The 3 pieces of Empress could be anything.
I use Glass Canon on my chest because I'm a crazy person. As a beginner you would want to use something else, like Obliterate or Kinetic Momentum, or even Unbreakable to add a bit of survivability.
I like using a shield for this build, since it will also be maximum, and lets me stay in the open and shooting more often. However, you can freely swap to whatever you like the most. This build also works incredibly well with a turret, or even a hive.
As always, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. The game can be very complex when you start moving into heroic and Legendary, because you enter the realm where builds start to become VERY fine-tuned. The unfortunate reality is that there are not going to be any simple builds at this level.
I'll explain when you gonna leave DCD Headquarters 😂Originally Posted by Wraith_9z Go to original post
