    unfair to close

Its really unfair to assume we are joking about the recent incidents - comparisons yes.
But I try to be unpolitical, just the fact - for me - that two games "play" with near future incidents that came true in a way is "wow".

By the way Ubisoft itself deals with past - near future - game content:

You can never win, I know what you mean but mods here are vicious and won't allow discussion of anything they decided is "off topic". Even if it isn't.

You were being political, whether you like it or not. The way it is, with free speech comes the free ability for everyone else to read into (and make judgments on) what you say. I found what you said to be deliberately political, it would appear the folks that closed your thread thought the exact same thing. For what it's worth, I think the use of 'joking' wasn't correct, but I don't think that's what you should be aiming at specifically. Plus, you know, for a lot of people right now, it's a very sensitive subject so the timing of it may not have been the smartest.

In among all of the things this game gets wrong at the moment (and are desperately requiring discussion on), I don't honestly know if your contributions (both to that locked thread as well as this one) are particularly helping. Of course the two situations are very similar, everyone knows that, but this is a discussion about the game and nothing else.

If someone referenced the game in a song that reached the charts for instance, I wouldn't expect a thread on that would last long here either. I'd expect one to on [artists' official forum] sure, but not here.

Free speech doesn't give carte blanche to go into someones living room and talk about what had for lunch.

These are ubisofts forums and as such its them who get to set the rules and guidelines. The rules say no politics, so no politics.

Also they're forums for a videogame which might be inspired by real world locations is generally thought of as a way to escape for a while. And of course Ubisoft aren't an american company so their views on what constitutes freedom of speech will differ.

I'm not really seeing any threads talking about the game being locked only "lol capitol invaded just like my video games and [insert very political view of events here] am i right guys?"

Despite your intentions, the implications behind it were clear. That itself can lead to off-topic political conversations. To be fair, though, Division is a fantasy game which reflects what could happen, not what is happening.

Ultimately, if you have an issue with a thread of yours being closed, feel free to PM the individual responsible for closing it or a CM. Generally speaking, moderator decisions are not to be discussed openly.
