AC Odyssey - A Sad Effort

I'd taken a break from AC. It had become so boring. Valhalla was amazing though. After reading how much was lifted from Odyssey, I decided to go back and try it.

What a mistake. The enemy balance in this effort is bad. Worse, the AI is lazy coding. It cheats non-stop. We get that the program 'knows' where we are. When you suddenly send a stream of 36 guards after us because one guard spotted us in the distance, that's weak.

The game is entirely focused on making Store sales. Like this gear pack? Ohhhh, you need to upgrade it if you equip it early. You need 'Drachmae' for that. Ubisoft sells that too!

I know it's all been talked through before. I am surprised it still exists in a game out this long, with another game that fixed many of those issues. The game has so much going for it, but Ubisoft really wasted the effort here.

I have every single thing available from the store ,,,,, And I mean EVERYTHING ...... Total out of pocket cost .... $9.98 because I won the vast majority for free something you cannot do in Valhalla ..... Plus Valhalla took it a step further by making the store "Pay to Win" ... In Odyssey the store armor sets were basically cosmetic with engravings that really weren't all that overpowered but made to promote a different playstyle while in Valhalla the nerfed the paltry amount of armor in the game and then are trying to sell you this massively overpowered sets in the store or in other words "Pay to Win" just like that train wreck Break Point whose failure caused their stock to tank and several games to get delayed a full year

Even one of Ubisoft's biggest fanboys is griping about it .......

And this game i way more fun than Valhalla, it both looks and plays better and if you are having a hard time then you don't understand how the armor system works ...... Don't believe me watch some of my YouTube videos

For instance here is a playlist of me destroying Mercs including 38 Mercs in 38 minutes, no cuts or edits or the Level 99 Merc at level 78
    https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...aL5GdT51LqmG5N

Or how about all the Artemis Beasts in 10 - 30 seconds
    https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...YTUkBpqrWM6oMV

Or one of my playthrough lists
    https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...i9EOlBdAiuhN5t
    https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...McFLLNJXKnkmKU

I'm no super gamer, I'm 61 years old and hardly in my prime when I had razor sharp reflexes, I'm just real smart and use my head to make things work in my favor ..... However Valhalla is too bug ridden and broken to even be worth putting any effort into it right now and likely will be that way for another 2 months since they only do updates every 6 weeks and it going to take at least 2 more to work out the mess they've created

    longjohn119,

I get what your saying, but a few clarifications.

    1. You can earn the Valhalla store items through opals found around the world or as payment for dailies.
    2. 200% adrenaline boost (Pegasos) is pretty powerful for Odyssey armor (just one example)
    3. It is much resource intensive to upgrade items in Odyssey vs Valhalla

I do get how the armor works. I don't think you have to take that sort of tone. People have their own preferences. Just because I don't appreciate the approach doesn't mean I don't understand it. Also, you say the overpowered sets are in Valhalla, and then show overpowered sets in Odyssey. That part confused me.

How can you compare Valhalla when you haven't taken the time to play it? I've got over 100 hours in Valhalla and had a blast. Never bought a thing through finishing the main story. Heck, I didn't even buy the games. Played the Deluxe versions on Plus. I encountered one save bug, which was easy enough to back out of, the drunken bug everyone has during the festival patch, and only a handful of crashes in those 100+ hours (that's with tabbing to other apps quite often).

It's just crazy how much item upgrades cost in Odyssey. Also, that the AI is so incredibly horrible. This is what is frustrating me with Odyssey.

By the way, Breakpoint was fun after the first Ghost Experience patch in March. The November patch had some nice things (especially for stealth), but they were too late for my main progression.
