Ubisoft Connect reward causes game to level scale too early.

So I've had the game since launch and got almost to the end of Aphrodite's region. I play the game on Normal difficulty. Almost every enemy I encountered up to this point was red. In fact I don't even remember running into a blue enemy. At the beginning of the game in the Clashing Rocks region, there is a Minotaur guarding a chest. He was also red.

I have since started over and I noticed something very different about the game. I've noticed that in every enemy group I come across in the Clashing Rocks region, there is atleast one blue enemy among them. And most importantly, that same Minotaur is now also blue. Since he's blue, he's now almost impossible to beat at this point early in the game.

I thought maybe this was just a really weird coincidence, so I restarted the game for a third time. Same results.

Why are so many enemies blue now including that Minotaur that used to be red? I'm still playing on Normal difficulty.

Is this something a recent patch changed? Is it a strange bug?
Or is it still just a crazy coincidence?

Please PLEASE can anyone tell me what is going on?!?

Please?!? Can anyone please tell me what is wrong?

I've checked YouTube and even Twitch streams. No one else's game is like this. I can't figure it out. Every single time I start a new game, it's the exact same.

I even have a completely separate copy on Xbox One X and the same thing happens there!

It's always the same enemies that are blue, as well.

Here are a few pics I posted to my Twitter.

I am on New Game at the very beginning. As you can see, the minotaur in clashing rocks is blue. In the second pic, one of the boars is blue. These aren't the only two examples. Even the literal second group of enemies you encounter after receiving Achilles' Sword one of them is blue.

In EVERY video I see on Twitch and YouTube, they are all red.

I don't understand. I've started the game over countless times and it's always the same. On PS4 and Xbox One. I've checked my settings thoroughly. I have always been on Normal Difficulty.

If this was part of a patch, I get it. But how come no one else's game is like this?

I just want answers. Please PLEASE respond, Ubisoft. PLEASE!

    Hey FireIce38,

    Thanks for reaching out.

Can you provide us with a video from your game demonstrating this issue, so we can check in with the team?

Well no, I can't. But the pics should be proof enough. I'm not even sure it is an issue. I just want to know why only my games on PS4 and Xbox One are like that.

I have the same issue. I did some experimentation and discovered what the issue is.

The most recent weekly challenge on Ubisoft Connect gives out 500 red adamantine shards. Apparently having this many shards in your inventory triggers the games level scaling and causes far more elite enemies to spawn. This is the case even at the very beginning of the game before you can even use the shards.

Starting a new game without being connected to the internet causes the normal difficulty enemies to spawn. Unfortunately as soon as you connect to the internet the "reward" shows up in the your inventory and the difficult enemies show up again.

I hope there is some way to undo this "reward" or else my game will be permanently filled with elite enemies.

Hopefully this information will be of use.

    O.O!

Thank you SO SO SO SO much!!!!

I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out why this is happening!!! I figured it had to be server related considering it was happening to my PS4 AND Xbox One copy.

Yeah hopefully they can reverse it. The elite enemies everywhere all the time is really annoying.

Thank you so much again for figuring this out! Atleast I feel better knowing it's not technically a bug.

Here's my next question. If I was to start a new game offline to avoid this, wouldn't it not give me my Gold Edition/Preorder bonus quest stuff?

I assume THIS particular challenge is the culprit?

Yep, that's the one. The red shards are rare so when you have that many of them the game assumes that you are powerful enough to handle tough enemies. I obviously cannot see the game's inner workings so is just an educated guess based on my observations.

As for a solutions, I see three options:

    1. Always play without an internet connection. This is not an ideal solution since the game has much online functionality. This would also cut you off from the rewards that do not break the balancing.

    2. Power through the early stages of the game and hope you will eventually be strong enough to face the challenges. I was able to complete the prologue with my limited gear but it was frustrating and that was not the experience I wanted out of this game.

    3. Wait for a patch that fixes this issue. Hopefully reporting it here will get things rolling.

Whatever you decide, I wish you luck. I only just got the game a few days ago and this was not the smoothest start.

Yeah thank you so much for identifying the issue.

But if I play offline, will my Gold Edition gear and the two bonus quests still be available?

I edited the title to reflect the cause of this issue.

Hopefully it will attract the attention of Ubisoft Support better.
