Hello
I was getting crashes a few minutes into the game. My FPS was skyhigh (like stable 100-200fps) and the game was crashing. I suspected it had something to do with overheating because my PC was hot when it happened. So downloading a temperature monitor showed my CPU heating up to 100ºC, which is my processors Tjunction.
Limiting the FPS to 60 solved the crashes, but my CPU still reaches 100ºC and drops almost instantly down, without any crashes. My cooler's working properly and it's well installed. Also I don't get these kinds of temperature playing anything else (tested a lot) and never had these crashes before. Lowering graphics setting doesn't make it go away.
Can anyone tell me if that's a real problem, since now the CPU only stays at 90-100ºC for a fraction of a second and drops back do 60-70ºC?
Anyone else getting this kind of overheating problem? It's weird because my PC surpass the recommended specs by a safe margin.
PC specs:
i9 9900k
Corsair watercooler (do not remember the model)
Gigabyte Z370M MB
GeForce RTX 2070
16Gb or RAM
Windows 10
Thanks in advance
What are your CPU and water temps if running Cinebench R20, available for free in Windows Store, with all cores? The advanced settings will allow you to set a minimum run time so you can find a max steady state temperature differential of your CPU and water at full load compared to room ambient temperature. You can also run Riva Tuner or other app that shows CPU core and thread temps and utilization while running the game, or an app like HWInfo64 in the background or with game in windowed mode to log the temps at a specific time interval.
Hello.
Have same problem.
AMD FX-8350 4.3 GHz, 16 Gb RAM, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6Gb.
I start play game with running HWMonitor and noticed, that CPU usage increasing for 0.5-1 sec everytime, when you enter in game menu or when new location downloaded (for example you enter/exit in/from dungeons or when you died and location reloads etc.) Moreover, at these moments the sound of game disappears for the same seconds.
So, if the changing of views of camera or locations happens often, my CPU is goin overheated an shutting down.
Probably, this started after last patch, but I'm not sure.
Hope they'll fix this - i like this game.
Sorry about my English.
This is a common issue across all platforms. For the moment, the game seems to want to draw a LOT of CPU power just to run. This is especially noticeable in the Demo, which doesn't offer the ability to lower visual settings at all and my own laptop shut itself off due to the heat.
If you are running the game on a laptop like Gigabye, MSI or Asus, I suggest you make certain the CPU isn't using an overclocking mode, and fans can auto-ramp to maximum if needed. Until a suitable update is available, this will mitigate temperatures to a more reasonable level.
