So I just got the game and tried to play it with my controller, but when I opened the game the buttons weren't working. The joystick works fine, but whenever I press any of the buttons, nothing happens. My controller is an original xbox controller, but through a program I'm running my computer recognizes it as an xbox 360 controller. I thought that maybe it was just a one time thing, so I closed the game and tried again, but the same thing happened. I also tried starting the game with my controller unplugged then plugging it in after the game started, but that didn't help either. I also tested the controller with other games, thinking that something was wrong with the controller, but it can run games like The Witcher 3, Destiny 2, and FFXV without any problem. Please help, this game looks really cool and I'd love to play it with a controller.
Hello there whitetiger687! Welcome to the forums!
Please note that your controller is not one of the officially supported controllers for Starlink: Battle for Atlas. The only Microsoft controller supported by this game on PC is the Microsoft Xbox One Controller.
I'd recommend using a supported controller to ensure that everything functions correctly. Thanks!
I use the official Microsoft XBOX One controller and it doesn't work either. The controller is recognized by all other games and also in UBISOFT Connect and can be used everywhere. Only Starlink does not recognize the controller. I had gotten the game in the sale to finally be able to try it out and this is now very disappointing.

Thank you for reaching out, sorry to hear you're having control issues.
Like OP, are you also using any additional software with your controller, such as anything to detect is an an XB360 controller?
And have you tried it both wired and wireless?
Mine wouldn't work for me, either. Then I learned that you have to connect the controller after you've got the game up and running. Then the game will notify you that it sees a new controller and ask which player you want it associated with.
Simply unplugging and replugging my (wired) controller with the game up does the trick for me. Or not turning the controller on until the game is up, if it's already shut off.
Hey! Sorry to hear that you also experienced this issue with the controllers and thank you for sharing what worked for you.Originally Posted by Auld_Jack Go to original post
