Or you know people just get good in at least blocking light attacks... -.-

Because the fact still remains the same as before CCU: Getting spammed? Your fault. You got to improve.

Blocks can still be done rather consistently on reaction still only light parry’s turned in to more of a read now.

OR how about we make everything reactable again and tone down the rewards of defensive play instead?

If you fine staring contest in high level as good game then I guess so. (No)

Staring contests existed just because defensive play was way too rewarding. You got way too much out of a parry and you were way too less punished for just blocking attacks. So no, if defensive play in general was less rewarding, staring contests wouldn't occur.

even if you low stuff like punishes, as long as majority of stuff is reactable it will lead to turtle meta, it would still happpen..

You should experience how it's ruined lower level play (<200 hours) that accounts for the majority, it's basically light spam exchanges without any thought as anything else will mean being overwhelmed. No one will dare to risk new tactics, too, as it'll mean being light spammed to death - forget defensive play with waiting for an opening. Reference my thread here, the CCU has only benefited those at the 'expert' level who are invested enough to provide feedback, etc, while it's completely ruined elsewhere...and most newer players don't know it was any different to actually complain.

I don't understand the criticism of everything being reactable, too, as it made duels very calculated until somebody did a mistake to punish - it made a high skill ceiling where consistency and patience were everything.
