His kit is meant to stop people from side dodging/Back dodging when doing the kick and the grapple attacks, but the grapple will never connect because the dodge moves you out of the way. The same is for alot of attacks that follow up in a comob. Like a light and then a heavy from warmonger will miss completely because of that. I was playing Highlander in dominion today and I couldn't land a single grapple because the side dodge always put them out of the way where was I would smack down anyone that didn't have a similar dodge.

and you might be right that its latency issues... I am playing a 4 v 4 mode constantly because brawls are dead at this time of day. So latency could play a big part in why I am having a -very- hard time in fighting Gryphons.
But isn't this issue the same for all dodge attack ? HL can't grab me when I dodge attack with my Zerk neither. Just have to time it good. Also, the simple forward heavy canceled into side heavy (forgot the name, celtic something) of HL catch dodge attack if I'm not mistaken.
Dodge attack are clearly one of the safest move in the game, but I personally stopped to try to gb soon enough or using bashes. The timing is too tight. I just cancel and parry, and after 3 or 4 parry, dodgy player usually calm down.
Delaying a light attack also stop the dodge attack for kensei and Gryphon (at least with warlord, idk for other characters), so that it hit when they are mid-course.

And indeed, Gryphon cannot feint his bash, so if he land it, he have to stick to it, and maybe get punished hard. BP does not have this problem. Idk how much is his finisher exactly ? 28 damages if I'm not mistaken. Considering that if you dodge and gb you earn a free heavy dealing almost as much, it doesn't seem that high, especially since then, you earn the agression and can land as much hit as you like. Then you KNOW he can dodge to get out of this situation, so feint a heavy and gb his dodge directly and bim ! Another heavy in the face (that's an example of one punish I did on a gryphon, all of this because he landed his kick and I dodged it).

So braindead play (overusing his two gimmicks) does not reward that much with him. But I maintain that he is quit annoying in gank, because if he land just one light, he can go directly for the kick, and if you dodge, the one you are locked on can gb you, and vice versa.

Last thing, I'm not sure if dominion is the best place to judge the potential of a new hero. Honestly, between being ganked, almost never be full health, the camera which is 3 miles away, the latency... yes, character like that seem a bit overtuned. But I can relate that warlord crashing charge seem t.o.t.a.l.y OP in dominion, but who fall for this in duel honestly ? Does that make Warlord op ? eehhh, no. Stop nerfing warlord ubi pls, he has already suffer enough. The next nerf will be making him a bigger viking minion for zone B. (FH was not even a thing for me back then but I saw videos of warlord before and he really is a shadow of what he was, I do not wish this to any hero).

Of course it's for braindead people he can just throw the same combo as many times he want without losing stamina !!!

He gonna kick you and hit you and kick your teamate without nevet having to stop to catch his breath

    Thats a machine !!!!

Well, he runs out of HP eventually if he spams it. Even if you are very, very stupid, you will start to dodge it sooner or later.

I've put some time into Gryphon and he feels pretty balanced especially compared to most other new heroes on release. I would agree with Raime that his feats are a bit overtuned. He doesn't have anything that will not be dealt with better given more time and practice against him. He has solid mix up potential but veteran or skilled players seem to be getting good at dealing with him. I was wrecking the first day or so but now, maybe its the tier of ppl I get matched against, if I throw a kick it gets dodged and I get punished over 50% of the time for sure. Now that could be due to me being predictable or needing more practice myself but I definitely don't feel like I am consistently steamrolling people like I feel with some other heroes.

    Well said.

Gryphon is fairly well balanced but it seems the devs are swinging towards nerfing the kick.

I'd be fine with the kick being slower if it could soft feint into light/heavy finishers, or just hard feintable.

I'm over every bash being feintable. His kick is fine how it is. Before the devs even think about nerfs, a month should go by.

He is just straight up annoying to fight against now to the point where I am taking a break from For Honor for the first few days of his official release to avoid the annoyance.

When it comes to playing Gryphon there is only one way: Spam.

People who have skill on this game and try to play him properly lose to those who just straight up button mash his combos and abuse his dodges. Some heros (for example hitokiri with no opener or dodge properties) just can't fight him when it comes to spam.

A simple way to nerf him is to only allow that kick property to land from two succesful hits. Being able to block both his attacks and he can still throw the kick for a free heavy is ridiculous when he already has a good arsenal in his attack.

But hey, it's a ubisoft game. They couldn't balance a pair of weighted scales if they tried

I similarly am tired of charge bash based offense. Gryphon is very refreshing from a design standpoint.
