18gb patch already, so good sign. Still a lot to fix apparently. But I agree I think they bit off more than they could chew and it was perhaps too ambitious. That said I think a lot of players want to play the game, I don't know anyone that has said the game itself is terrible. With Breakpoint a lot of players didn't want to play because it wasn't what they expected. Be interesting to see how much effect that difference has.Originally Posted by Bone_Frog Go to original post
Perhaps all the games developers can learn from the lessons of Breakpoint and now, unfortunately, from Cyberpunk. Both games caused severe hits to the value of their respective company's shares, CD Projekt Red suffering nearly a 30% reduction in December as news of the technical issues emerged. Whereas Ubisoft can, and did, absorb that due to their wide range of games CDPR are more vulnerable to issues with a single game. At least for them the game itself is excellent, so fixing the issues if they can will set them in good stead. According to press reports today, however, Sony are offering automatic refunds to all PS4 owners even if they have played beyond 2 hours and are setting to complain formally to CDPR.
I hope it's a blip and CPDR do recover quickly, because the way they have made Cyberpunk and the ambition in it are ideals that all games companies should strive for.
The graphics are nothing special, you're right. You're also right about the glitches. ....but as far as the sponginess, CP2077 is an RPG and never pretended to be anything else so yeah, the damage model was no surprise to me. Also, the difficulty can be tailored.Originally Posted by DJonWick Go to original post
As for the damage numbers appearing when shooting enemies, that (among a lot of other HUD features) can be turned off along with the subtitles among NPCs in the background or those you are directly interacting with. .....or the health bars appearing above enemies heads, notifications and so on. That was one of the first things I did when I got into the game was to change a lot of those settings as I don't like them either.
I can't speak for PC but for console but the cars are very controllable on PS4. The only hindrance I can see is due to the frame rate drops at times and the physics are kinda janky.
I have experienced a lot of the common bugs people are complaining about online. ....NPCs following you after a mission (I couldn't get rid of Dum Dum until Chapter 2), BSOD after a couple of hours of playing (3 times so far in my ~12 hours of play), NPCs and/or objects pop in and out, NPCs interacting with things not there, etc.
Beyond that, I have also noticed other examples of mechanics that either make no sense or seem to be unoptimized like when you interact with other, inconsequential NPCs. I've walked up to vendors for instance that act like people from the street telling me to get lost, etc. Today I ran across a guy tending to his buddy who was injured and in a frantic state. I chose to "talk" and his demeanor changed asking me "here for a good time?". ......makes no sense as with most of the exchanges I've had with other NPCs I try to interact with.
Having said that, none of these are "official" vendors you can buy things from or do anything else with in the game, but the responses they give add absolutely nothing to the experience. It would have been better just to remove the option to "talk" with them to be honest as the response either make no sense or seem really generic.
You are right that it needed more time in the oven and this should have been apparent considering the commonality and repeatability of the problems we're encountering.
I had a feeling this game wasn't going to work well on current gen and I think you're right.... They should have targeted next gen but I think they have felt a commitment to current gen players having waiting so long through several delays.Originally Posted by Bone_Frog Go to original post
I'm still looking forward to playing it on PS5 as it's a much better experience but even so, I'm getting enjoyment out of it on my PS4 for now.
Personally, I feel the level of bugs is beyond what I would consider acceptable for a game launch but again, like you, it matters more to me in how a company addresses issues like these including how quickly they implement fixes. The last patch didn't do much for the issues I have been experiencing and I have had a BSOD since so I'll have to see what they do with future patches.

I agree that the success of the game will depend greatly on how quickly CDPR can get it back on its feet. No doubt in time it will be heralded as a game worth buying and playing but they will lose that financial opportunity they could have had early on with a more successful release. ....kinda reminds me of Days Gone. I passed on that game for about a year and finally bought it after nearly all the bugs had been worked out. It's really a great game and such a shame it was plagued by problems at launch and long after.
I paid peanuts for that game months later and if it hadn't had issues, I would have gladly paid full price after release.
It is not the shooter aspect that I think Ubisoft Paris should learn from Cyberpunk 2077, nor is the Multiplayer experience from COD MW or Insurgency Sandstorm, it is the attitude of those game developers towards their customers that I think Ubisoft Paris lacks most right now. Cyperpunk for example, as an open-world RPG game, built a pretty solid cyberpunk styled world and its world setting is authentic, convincing, the characters and their lines are live, dynamic and immersive, and the side missions are pretty interesting to play, let alone those main missions. The game developers really stuffed quite a LOT of details into the game in order to deliver such a world to players.Originally Posted by Quimera2-98 Go to original post
But what has Ubisoft Paris delivered in Breakpoint ?
What people wanted was fully customizable gunsmith system, but as of now high power scopes still can't be equipped on all rifles just because these rifles/SMGs are not of "SCOUT" type, and who decided there should be a "SCOUT" type that doesn't exist in the real world? Plus it was not until recently(almost 1 year after release) are we able to fully customize the stocks and underbarrel. Almost a whole year!
People wanted was authenticity and immersion but did Ubisoft Paris delivered them ?
There were only lasers which move slowly to the center of the screen and can't even be seen by your teammates, vehicles that explode out of nowhere, heavy gunners who stand still out in the open, bullets that drop drastically when over 150 meters, enemies circling round and round you don't what they are doing, missions which always tell you to go to a and kill A, then go to b and kill B, and then goto c and kill C, lines that make you feel embarrassed instead of immersed, characters that make you feel unrealistic, movements which are too slow and sometimes annoyingly stick you to the wall or change cover direction against your will, UI interfaces which response very slowly(>=0.5s), and shooting sounds which many weapons share the same, and bullet spongy drones which are not supposed to be fought by soldiers in real world, Azrael drones which come by every 20 minutes and spawn enemies out of nowhere and kill you easily because you have "LOW GEAR SCORE" and thus more vulnerable to damage, and wolves which take several hits by .50 caliber bullets and still run like rabbits, and side missions which are mostly irrelavent to the main story.
So, as a RPG game its world setting/character setting/character lines/missions suck as hell, and as a shooter game its gunsmith system/bullet trajectory/damage values/movements didn't go any better. And these aspects, are the things I really wish Ubisoft Paris learned from good games like Sandstorm, Tarkov, COD MW 2019, and Cyberpunk 2077
My advice to Ubisoft Paris would be: Learn from those great games, build up an authentic world, stuff it with plenty of diversed characters and tell us a really good story like you did in Wildlands, with plenty of main/side missions which "SERVE THE PURPOSE OF BUILDING UP THE STORY AND THE WORLD", and provide us with a gritty shooting experience, give us picture-in-picture scopes, and no more misfunctioning lasers, ridiculous bullet drop, "SCOUT" types and give us quicker UI response and well adjusted movements.
These are merely a small portion of things Ubisoft Paris should've delivered AT LAUNCH, not a year after. After a whole year I am still struggling to persuade the devs to make lasers visible to other teammates, this is pathetic. Such bug would've be discovered had they even played this game of their own making just for 15 minutes, and yet they didn't, and it tells people much about the dev's attitude towards their game and players.
I'm gonna say the same thing here I said back when GRBP released and the stock price dropped for UBI. Day to day stock price is generally irrelevant. What matters to serious investors is sales and profits.Originally Posted by AI BLUEFOX Go to original post
Ubisoft had a longer term problem in that according to their investor calls, GRBP was a financial failure(at least at launch). Their stock price was buoyed by there other titles in development, strong performance of back catalog, and overall long term performance.
CDPR in contrast, primarily makes money like Steam, through selling other titles. CP2077 was also a financial smash hit. Pre-orders covered development costs(8 million units sold) and then day one was pure profit(10 million units sold).
Will they bounce back, if in six months they have a fully polished game with a compelling(or two) DLC yes absolutely. That was what happened with TW3. If they abandon it to a development backwater like GRBP then no.
Also bear in mind that the problems are primarily on current gen consoles. Game plays and looks great on PC(even an older one) and next gen consoles.
As far as Sony... I'm gonna say the same thing the leaked CDPR internal memo did, why did they certify it? They certified the game gold, which kinda astounded the CDPR staff so at the end of the day that is on Sony to do its due diligence.
I have not played Cyberpunk 2077 or the new COD, mainly down to Finances. So can not Judge them.
As for Breakpoint, of late seem to be less Problems, even though some AI Mechanics need redoing and Dialogue!! Hill must be mentioned all the time?!
Breakpoints missions have been poor, along with the annoying Videos.
What has kept me going, especially since Immersive Mode, which has way too many settings! I Am playing on Elite/Extreme, and doing a lot of Hunting, especially in Sinking County and Fen Bog.
Learning new techniques, trying various weapons, and clearing bases stealthy as i can.
Must Admit i do like the Equipment Depot, and have spent time doing above, plus adding old shell, sometimes up to 3 lots if you look. Also these two locations great for supplies, as well as Stealth.
For me Shooters are OK, but i love the Stealth Games, a feeling of satisfaction.
But the one good point on Breakpoint, is no Multiplayer going around killing each other, often full of Cheats like COD etc
One discussion i was having with my Brother, is how great it would be a Game like this set in WWII, a bunch of Commandos, Resistance Fighters etc.
Would love UBI to make Breakpoint Crossplay, and more Profile Slots, maybe add Crossbow, Trip Wires and ability to Drag player or enemy to safety or hide enemies shot.
Apparently CDPR rolled out some more patches today, along with one of the dreaded yellow tweets saying they are sorry, and promising more patches in 7 days.Originally Posted by Kean_1 Go to original post
We'll see how that goes. IIRC this kind of launch lead to some free DLC on TW3. So it will be interesting to see how CDPR handles this one. IMO the response and communication have been better than GRBP's radio silence. The situation still isn't good for people who didn't get the finished product they paid for, but the communication and seeming eagerness to fix it are a welcome breath of fresh air.

A further drop of 15% today and CPDRs offer of wide ranging refunds suggest to me that the stock price reduction is more than just poor sentiment, but we'll see. Right now would be a great time to pick up some of their stock methinks, anyway, so if you have any spare cash ...
No, that is how they roll. I can't remember if they offered refunds on TW3, but offering refunds to make customers happy is probably more cost effective in the long run than making DLC that was planned as paid free to all the way they did in TW3.Originally Posted by AI BLUEFOX Go to original post
I find it ironic that on every announcement of a delay their Twitter feed blew up with "release the game already, we'd rather have it buggy than have to wait" and now its "its buggy why didn't you delay longer".
