    Gryphon's Kick:

Does Gryphon's kick give an auto heavy?

So, if this true, his kick is faster than Shinobi's AND does more damage. Shinobi does less damage and a slower kick on the follow-up heavy with less damage than Gryphon's.

Dude, who is calling the shots here?! Like, this is absurd at this point.

I'm playing as and against him and his kick can only be accessed after the second hit in a chain and it takes a second to activate. It can be dodged and punished. Yes it guarantees a heavy but it isn't that fast and it is punishable. If someone spams it, free gbs all day.

Shinobi can backflip from his kick, so it does not guarantee a guardbreak. Also, I don't see the point in this, why should a new hero's workable offense be on the same level as the most horribly designed thrash's?

Gryphon's kick is fine. The DMG of the heavy after it is a bit over tuned (it should be between 20 and 24) but the kick itself is fine.

His kick is faster than Shinobi's, and faster than Valk's sweep. Gryphon and Valk share a similar mechanic where their special attacks come after the second attack in the chain. Gryphon actually has easier access with some attacks behaving as the 2nd in the chain, i.e dodge attacks. This makes the kick pretty oppressive at times, as it's very quick and outclasses other character's chained bashes. He is, in a sense, just as predictable as valk, but his mixups are simply better than hers since his finishers are undodgeable.

If you dodge the kick, you might eat a light or heavy instead. You unfortunately can't say the same for Valk's mixups since she doesn't have undodgeable attacks of any sort, and her sweep, sf bashes, and light finishers can all be dodged on a singular timing. Characters with good I-frames can even escape her heavy finishers on sweep or light reaction.

Gryphon is just a fast hero. I do think his heavy after the kick is overtuned. 28 damage for such a fast kick is kind of absurd really, Valk's sweep only does 26 damage and isn't frame advantaged. I think it needs to be within the 20-24 range.

Wrong, he only needs a single light as the second is confirmed double hit just like Warden, also he does not have one, but 4 counters and mixups to punish anyone dodging it, he can GB, undodgeable light, hyper armor heavy and fast dodge attack with decent tracking. Its absurd because as long he does not overuse a single option he can confirm damage while simultanously counter nearly everything. The only thing you can do really is to parry his light attack (good luck with that), you can't follow up with anything because you risk getting dodge attacked too, which for some reason acts as 2 hits and directly chains into any of his mentioned finishers/options.

Valk sweep is not punishable by guardbreak. That is a huge difference you left out.

Also the kick tracking is almost non existent.

Correct, Valk's sweep cannot be punished by a GB. Gryphon is left very vulnerable after a missed kick.
I still think the damage is a little too high atm.

But that is still a second confirmed hit, and the dodge attacks act as shortcuts, as do kensei's dodge attacks.

How can you say such definitive things about a new hero you simply haven't yet learned to counter?

"The only thing you can do is" etc etc.

He is brand new. I have had some weird occurances with him already for sure, but I don't immediately scream broken as my go to.

Give it some time. Adapt. Evolve.

If he still feels OP after people have gotten used to fighting him, THEN we can discuss him being possibly broken.
