With all the threads on optimization station costs, how long it should take to farm enough to increase something one percentage point, and all the RNG discussions of the past....
In my view, in addition to "difficulty" settings it might be a good idea to have a setting that sets the pace of your game. Those that expect RNG to be more gracious, to use the OT once per day would be on a "FAST" setting.
Those that are OK with the game playing as it was designed and intended, would be on a "NORMAL" pace.
As far as PvE is concerned, who cares what each other is set to?
But as soon as you step into PvP, you only get exposed to other players who are on the same pace as you.
Have a way to set co-op to either not care about pace setting, or to only allow grouping with players with the same pace.
Now, let the player base decide what each wants and stop trying to appease both at the same time.
Oh, and don't come into the forums to complain about choosing a FAST pace and not finding many to play with, or vice versa. What you see is the reality of how many people want to play the same way you do.
And for all that is holy, no crying about choosing a "NORMAL" pace and expecting RNG and OT to provide more instant gratification.
Not all want this to be the only game they play. Not all want to play 5 games concurrently.

Before you worry about the cost vs little effectiveness of the Optimization Station. I will point this out, the cost rises quite a bit but so also does the bonuses given. Pretty much the first upgrade on a piece of gear is low, but the subsequent upgrades increase dramatically in effectiveness. I decided to use this thing on my Apartment and the first upgrade was 0.1 Weapon Damage. The Second goes up to 0.5%(I think, the bar was a lot larger when I went to see about the cost and effect)
Also, keep in mind that all bundles of optimization materials except the Field and Recon are crafted in 10 units. The first 2 are in units of 5. Pretty much when you have a lot of materials and really start working on an a special item, the effects become much more profound.
A way of looking at it is like this. Farm for what you want, if it is near perfect with some last work to do, recalibrate it and then scrap and sell as usual.
This is kind of a strain but not as much as people think. We just aren't used to farming and crafting at this scale.
Good luck and happy hunting!
Once you offer a choice, no one would play on normal, simply because what you're suggesting with fast means better RNG.
Now, on the flipside, "expecting" RNG to be gracious compared to what seems to be implied (i.e the sentence above) doesn't mean it will be. So technically fast and normal would be the same thing from this angle.
