Rocksmith and the Big Sur Update for MacOS
Hello everyone,
An update for Rocksmith Remastered on Steam has just been released to assure compatibility with Big Sur for MacOS. This update resolves an issue where Big Sur users would launch Rocksmith Remastered to a static gray screen.
Additionally, some players are seeing issues with mouse compatibility due to privacy features introduced in recent MacOS builds. Upon launch, Rocksmith may prompt the OS to ask if you grant permission to monitor inputs (keyboard/mouse) or microphone (Real Tone Cable). You must grant permission at this prompt or allow it later in the Security preferences panel of the OS.
If you’re still experiencing mouse or search bar issues in-game, please try the following:
- Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy tab
- Disable the RS2014 permission from Accessibility and Input Monitoring
- Reactivate them
- Start the game
The mouse click issue and the Search text box keyboard issues should be fixed after this. If not, reset the permissions again, launch the game with them deactivated, exit the game, re-enable the permissions in Input Monitoring/Accessibility, and run the game.
If you run into certain other unexpected issues (cable not detected, random frequent crashes, mouse clicks lost), we recommend a full reinstall of Rocksmith Remastered in order to ensure that the changes in this update take full effect.
We want to thank you all for your patience during the first days of the Big Sur MacOS update, and special thanks to the users who offered us feedback into the beta build since Friday evening. Your insights, confirmations, and investigations dramatically helped our turnaround time with this update.
