    Optimization: Exploring the numbers

Anyone have solid info on what the actual Mat requirements are for tiers? Any idea on what the drop rates of the non-item/faction boss Mats are? SHD or Crafting options?

I've only looked at a couple of my pieces, but those only required a partial tier. Many people are claiming it's absurd and motivation sapping, but I've yet to see any actual math to back it up.

I've got guesses, but I'd love to have better numbers to back it up and refine it. Maybe others don't care, but I'm hoping a few of you might also be interested in figuring it out.

These numbers are still accurate. No changes. Not all bosses drop faction materials. Only specific ones in Summit, missions and Bounties. Level 4 CPs do not. Roaming bosses do not. The ones that do drop mats only drop 1-4 depending on difficulty.

Thanks, I'll jump into those on my lunch.

Did they do any adjustment going Live?

No changes that I know of.

Quick napkin math [Faction numbers were MIA]: for a full tier, with focused grinding, I think the Devs we're aiming at 5hrs per Mat. Second Tier looks to bump that up to 7.5hrs per Mat. So 20 hours for one tier, an additional 30 hours for the next. My 10 hour estimate was skewed because I only looked at partial tier upgrades, apparently [plus I'm guessing Season Activities help accelerate acquisition].

At least, those are the times I got for the Item [40/hr speed running Targeted Summit on Hard] & CP [20/hr, either 6.5 CP3s/hr or 5 CP4/hr] rewards. For the time to work on faction, we'd have to be looking at about 12 Mats/hr. For the SHD, you're looking at 9 Mats per hour.

I don't see anything on factions, but if you can get 3 Mats from a Challenging mission, that fills perfectly.

The harder is the SHD. It's likely going to require a mix of Summit & Open World farming. Say doing a Solar Farm + Mat Run [5], then Summit [2] + 5 XP levels [2], mixing in the Daily/Weekly projects to smooth the numbers. The Daily/Weekly open world project should help bolster both your Watch Level gains, plus Mat farming for conversion. The Daily mission is usually good for 1XP level [plus Faction Boss Mats].

I think you'll also see boosts from doing Season Activities. So you could probably shave those times down with concerted effort and focusing on the Bonus XP stuff.

The Manhunt, if done on Challenging, looks like it could give you close to a Tier per Target [if item loot and factions line up nicely]? Curious to see if the Global Events or Time Trials have extra Optimizations?

After doing that, I think the time recs are fine [if my math/estimates are close to accurate], but the Mat variety will be annoying [as I thought when first looking at it]. I hope they decide to just consolidate the OW/Faction/SHD into a single credit.

I'm just going to keep thinking about it as a nice bonus just for playing. I should be able to full gRoll my AR/Rifle build before the Season is over, probably another build or two as well. I'll just make a more concerted effort to hit Solar Farm more regularly, and play Summit a little more than I had been [I like the new Challenges, plus getting a Named Item Cache for only 30 floors now].

I'll definitely pay attention to the Mats as I start doing the Manhunt though to see how it actually plays out in game time.

I just made my very first million credits today so I'm still selling stuff. The Opti Table means I can't ever sell anything ever again if I want to use it because there are 21 different currencies to grind now.

I'll keep ignoring it until it changes or I get ONE build I'm completely happy with.

Also, remember that it optimizes one attribute at a time. A piece of gear with three attributes at 90% will take 60-100 hours even by your numbers. A build at 90% could take 600+ hours. That's unreasonable. The table should be a slight shortcut. Not a year long grind.

    It's a shortcut for me

    On my main AR/Rifle build, I need: 0.1% CHC, 0.2%WD, 0.6%CD, and 0.7%WD

On my current fun build, I need: 0.3%WD, 1.2%CD, and 1.7%CHC

Have a couple of Weapons I'll probably buff up after that. Figure I'll have most of what I care about maxed by the end of Season 4.

Can't help you if you were under the impression the Optimization Table was for quickly turning 90% gear into 100% gear..

Edit: with the Recalc Bench, a 90% build would only need 15-20 max, so <400 hours]

I was looking forward to the optimisation table, but then i saw the sheer vast numbers i'd need to get in order to do even a minor adjustment, so all those poor percentage but right reds or blues etc pieces i was saving for the bench will all be deconstructed. Done the manhunt in a day, probably come back on over the next few days to blast out the season pass rewards track but then the game will be dropped entirely until the next manhunt. Even the manhunts im not massively fussed for but its something to give the game abit of worth in its final hours. The opimisation table had the numbers not equated to absolutely thousands of hours of time would have led to something to do but for the effort its going to require its just not worth it. Ah well, the update was good whilst it lasted...a day...

Come on man, this thread was for using numbers.

We have other threads if you're just going to gripe your feels. It's not thousands of hours, unless you can show your work.
