One thing I've been seeing lately is a lot of people, usually newer players, complaining that their build doesn't work well. Or that they copied a Youtuber or Streamer build and it ended up not performing like what they saw in the highlight reel. And with the new weapons and sets and brands coming in a few days, there are going to be more potential builds popping up all over the place, with the associated confusion I just described.
So what I'm wondering is if the community would benefit, or like to have, a consolidated thread where people post not just their builds, but preferably a video explaining how the build works, why certain pieces of gear were chosen, and actual gameplay that's not just a streamer cherry pick.
And what I'd personally like to see are a wide range of builds. Not just god-rolled gear with stuff out of the raid or the DZ. Everything from beginner builds to legendary. Solo or group. But one thing we need to agree on before posting is a unified standard format. That way no matter who comes looking for builds, they can all expect to see the same thing.
Something like stating PVP or PVE and what Role(Red DPS, Skill, Survivability armor/shield, whatever), followed by a screenshot of the gear page and a short description of the overall strategy. Then a short video showing how it actually plays in heroic or legendary, specifying solo or group play. Preferably with a shorter mission like American History Museum or something.
What do you guys think? I would volunteer to keep the first post updated with a list and links to all the build posts/videos.
Isn't there already one? https://www.divisionbuilder.com/
When I clicked the link, the top build foe this TU is still using talents on masks and holsters and such. I don't think it's up to date.Originally Posted by tcarlisle2012 Go to original post
The challenge with this sort of thing is keeping up with the changes - e.g. the EP backpack is popular with Ridgeways as of today, but won't be as of Tuesday. If you're going to start a thread, make sure the title includes the TU #. You may also want to provide a standard template to indicate what the build is intended for - i.e. solo vs group, PvP or PvE.
That site hasn't been updated in a long time - it's missing Eclipse Protocol, Belstone and Hunters Fury for example.Originally Posted by tcarlisle2012 Go to original post
[edit] and still has the Gear 1.0 brand bonuses![]()
That's kind of why I started this thread, to figure out some initial format details and anything else people can think of to make ot easier to find and sort builds.Originally Posted by dagrommit Go to original post
Yes. It would be handy but it would need to exclude anything from before TU 11.1 and each build shown would need to list what version of the game it was made on. Builds become obsolete over night in this franchise. lol
I really miss the days of Marco Styles. He didn't need to show me builds in TD1. He just needed to explain things like additive and multiplicative damage talents to let me make builds that worked. He knew a lot of other things that made me think he was probably into data mining. He just knew details about new things before a normal player should have had time to figure out. But I digress...
But yeah, I would love a data base that showed me how skills are affected by talents and things like that.
And while we're at it, show the build, explain how it works and then post video mission/application tutorials of sort.
Perfect example here.... Pay close attention. Especially the "manning speed run is impossible" crowd
I still dont fully understand the difference between multiplicative and additive when calculating out damage. I mean, I understand the concepts, just not the actual calculation or how to determine how/when which is better in each situation.
I think what confused me most was the vid I watched about damage to armor mostly only being useful above a certain bullet damage.
Anyway, it's enough to know that multiplicative damage is better. I just wish it was very clear within the game which pieces of gear and which attributes did what.
