Some feedback on the TU12, and the game in general
The first couple of things that I want to say is that:
1- my intention is NOT to start a discussion, but just to give the DEVS my opinion on the game. Feel free to comment, but I will not respond/discuss;
2- I have game/franchise fatigue. I've been playing since the open beta of the TD1, and have more then 2000 hours on TD1, and close to 2000 hours on TD2, so my entusiasm for the game is very low right now. Not because of the game itself, aand its flaws, but mostly because of fatigue;
As to the TU12, and all the changes that will happen, and the Gear/Weapons that will be implemented, globaly, I think it will be a very good patch.
But I do have some "grips" with some things.
Regarding the new Gear/Weapons:
- I like the new ARs (the Named one and the Exotic), and think they are strong but not over powered, but don't really see the point of the new Named Sniper.
- I like the new Gear BRAND, which I think it will be a must on all Skill Damage builds.
- I don't like the new Gear SET. Like many other Gear SETs, it feels week compared to the High End Gear.
- The new Exotic Holster is very good, but not over powered. It can be VERY strong on "instant damage" skills, but for it to be very strong, it will require the player to actually be good with them, so it will earn that power. On the "normal" Skill damage builds, it will be just a bit better then using a second Hana-U or a Wyvern piece...
Regarding the Optimization table, their costs and resources acquisition:
- I think the optimization station will be a great adition to the game, that will actually allow us to have a sure way to improve on those pieces that are close to max rolls, or to those pieces that are very rare to drop, like DZ exclusive Named Items. I have a good ammount of Gear/Weapons that will finally be GOD rolled, that before I just couldn't be bothered to farm for better rolls anymore.
- The costs are very high, and thats ok in my opinion. Like it was said in tday's SoTG, the idea is to use this tool to improve some already good gear/weapon, and not to quickly turn any piece of garbage in a GOD roll.
- The resources acquisition is what I think is not that great. I think this is a missed oportunity to make ALL content on the game "desirable" to play. What I mean is that, in the current form, when we want some specific resource, what we'll do is search for the EASIER activitie to get it, and farm/grind that thing over and over and over and over...
I think every week we should have a playlist of missions and districts that would drop the specific resources, and we would have to complete the "playlist" to get all max resources, and then the "playlist" would reset, and we could farm/grind for more resources, over and over again. This would make us play ALL the many (and great) avaible content, most of it, is VERY rarely played by anyone.
Regarding the current state of Gear/Weapons "balance", I think the Devs should make some changes to them:
- We have "dead" stats, specially on that 3rd stat on weapons. There's "only" stat that people should get, Damage to Targets Out of Cover. Damage to Armor is not that bad, and in some very specific situations, Critical Chance might not be terrible. And that's it! Three stats out of 10 or 11, or something... DtTOoC should be reduced, Crit Damage should be increased, and ALL the "Handling" stats should get HUGE buffs to be viable. Something like: 15% Rate of Fire, 15% Weapon Handling (I'm not sure weapon handling even exists in here), 30% Stability/Accuracy, 25% Magazine Size, and so on.
- All the "special" stats on named gear should be added to all other pieces (on the same "slot"), but with lower values. Something like: 12% Damage to Health on all MASKS, 6% Damage to Armor and 8% Armor on Kill on all GLOVES, 6% Damage to Targets Out of Cover on all KNEEPADS, and so on. The goal is to give us more stats to choose from, besides "forcing" us to use Named items that don't fit our build.
- The Gear Sets should have 2 "secondary" stats, just like High End gear. I "understand" why they made them like this. The idea was that the 4 piece talent would be so good, that it would make up for the lack of those stas, but that's NOT what happens, outside of the skill Gear Sets, and 1 or 2 of the blue/red ones. Some Gear Sets have really good 4 piece talents, but the lack of those 4 stats added to the lack of some really strong Gear BRAND bonus, makes most Gear SETS not viable on harder content. Gear SETS should not just be "more fun", but should still be viable, which they're NOT, specially on red ones. And yes, Striker's is the most obvious example of that.
Regarding the DZs:
- I don't like PvP, so I'm not going to comment on that aspect of the DZs.
- I hate what was done to the DZ(s). It was GREAT on the beggining of TD1, but because there was no PvP game mods, and no money from Ubi to make them, the Devs took the easy path, and turned the DZ into a huge PvP arena. On TD1, that was mostly ok, because of its size, it was possible to be a PvE player in there, and farm/extract "in peace" most of the times, but allways having the tension of maybe being attacked. That's almost gone on TD2. We either get in a server with one (or two) death/gank squads that just want to kill players, and you're only chance to get something is if they just keep fighting the same players, or you get a "PvE server" and you can finally farm in peace, and most of the times there's no even tension because you realize that people are just you, and only want to farm. I'm not really sure what could be done, considering that the Devs made the conscient decision to go that path, but it's very sad, and the part of the game that I really loved on TD1, is completely annoying on TD2.
I probably have other thoughts about the game, but for now I think this is it...
