Wanted to add to this too: My PS4 experience since Far Cry 5's launch was excellent, no crashing at all. New Dawn ran super too.
I have to say that backwards compatibility for this doesn't work, it freezes around the 25 to 40 minute mark, it's in completely random spots. I've been trying to play co-op with my friend and he also randomly freezes, halting up the session.
Note: this is running it off an external HDD because we don't have space on the interal SSD. If I install it on the SSD, I'll comment again on that. Good luck everyone!
I also have experienced the same issues on PS5.
I played Far Cry 5 on PS4 and it worked absolutely fine however on PS5 it freezes every 30-60 minutes resulting in me having to restart the game.
More often than not it occurs whilst in a mission however I cannot be sure that is what causes it.
The audio usually carries on playing but the screen freezes.
I wanted to play through 5 and then new dawn again before 6 came out![]()
Please fix![]()
Hi folks,
So we can get a better understanding of what is happening please answer the following:
Do you have a disc or digital version of the game that you are using on your PS5?
Is the game installed on the internal SSD or are you using an external HDD?
Does the console have adequate air ventilation?
Additionally please try rebuilding the database of the console. You can find how to do this below. First you need to enter safe mode:
Turn off your console by pressing the power button. The power indicator will blink for a few moments before turning off.
Once the system is off, press and hold the power button again. Release it after you hear the second beep — one beep will sound when you first press, and another seven seconds later.
Connect the controller with the USB cable and press the PS button on the controller.
Once in safe mode, please rebuild the database of the console.
Thank you.

Does the console have adequate air ventilation? I think so. I played through Ghost of Tshushima on it and it was fine. That's a more demanding game on the console.
It happened to me again today. I will try database rebuild.
Thank you for getting back to us Gstricko. Please let us know if the rebuild works.Originally Posted by Gstricko Go to original post
