    Regarding Just Dance 2021

    Just Dance 2021 Bugs
On behalf of the Just Dance Community, we have noticed several bugs in the game that have not been addressed. We feel as you (Ubisoft) should take in account these bugs

If you were to edit your Dancer Cards nickname, avatar, alias, or skin, they will be immediately reverted after playing a song, or exiting the game, and reloading it. This can easily be fixed by unfreezing the link https://jmcs-prod.just-dance.com/profile/v2/map-ended, and https://jmcs-prod.just-dance.com/profile/v2/profile (POST Request).

Quick Play does not appear to be randomized to your dancing habits, as advertised, and only shows Just Dance 2020/Just Dance Unlimited songs, and when you leave the game, and load it again, it reverts to the original song that was there before, theres no randomness at all, (when you dont have Just Dance Unlimited, it only shows Chiwawa - Barbie Version), an easy fix for this would be to not use the Recommended Songs playlist to base the Quick Play songs on.

Dancer of the week is completely broken, My score for Zenit - ONUKA (13333) was unlawfully stolen from me on Dancer of the Week, People are now unable to get any Dancer of the Week for any song that does have a previous Dancer of the Week. An easy way to fix this would be: Unfreezing the link https://jmcs-prod.just-dance.com/profile/v2/map-ended, and https://jmcs-prod.just-dance.com/profile/v2/profile (POST Request).

This is an extension of the Dancer of the Week, and Dancer Card bug, but I feel like it is necessary to mention in this essay. None of our scores are being updated in the https://jmcs-prod.just-dance.com/ servers, which means when we migrate to Just Dance 2022, our scores for Just Dance 2021 (and any other scores whilst playing the game) will not appear on Just Dance 2022. We are unable to progress rooms in World Dance Floor because the game relies on our profiles in the jmcs-prod servers. An easy way to fix this would be: Unfreezing the link https://jmcs-prod.just-dance.com/profile/v2/map-ended, and https://jmcs-prod.just-dance.com/profile/v2/profile (POST Request).

During the recap (score screen), the text "Best Hi-score!" will appear at any time, regardless if it is actually your highest score or not. An easy fix for this would be: Add a new animation file, in recap (cache\itf_cooked\CONSOLE\world\ui\screens\recap_h omeparty_rival\animations) that removes said text whenever the score is not the highest score.

Whilst trying to exit World Dance Floor, during the "You have played for X minutes, Met X people, in X countries", the game does not allow you to exit this screen for about 10 seconds after the animation is finished. This is very unnecessary, and time consuming. An easy fix for this would be: Allow the player to exit the screen as soon as the animation is finished.

Some songs use montage.png.ckd. However, the said songs that use montage, the game does not properly split these, which results in the game showing a part of the picto above's legs. An easy fix for this would be to split all of the pictos, I know this may potentially increase the game size, but it makes the game more consistent.

Whilst viewing the Video Gallery, any autodances that include Yameen Yasaar play the original song the choreo was meant for, Habibi Yaeni. The songs In The Navy and Samba de Janeiro play the original song, not the cover. This can lead to potential copyright lawsuits, and can cost you a lot of money. An easy way to fix this would be actual Q/C testing.

In some cases, the Recommended Songs playlist is entirely gone, and in some cases, it only shows Just Dance 2020 songs. This is due to the jmcs-prod servers not being able to distinguish Just Dance 2020 and Just Dance 2021 apart. Again, the easiest way to fix this would be rigourous Q/C testing. That is all I can say about this.

Some songs on Kinect and Controller have terrible scoring, which make the game unplayable. Some examples of this would be In The Navy, You've Got A Friend In Me, U.S.A, Jooneh Khodet, and Yameen Yasaar. These songs give players constant Goods and Oks, even when the player is doing the moves correct. This is making the game unbearable to play. A good way you could've imidigated this would've been to push back the release date, to make sure everything is working fine.

The sorting in the song selection menu (cache\itf_cooked\nx\world\ui\screens\exposition\e xposition.isc.ckd) has been discussed multiple times in our community, after the release of Just Dance 2021. And we believe the "Pertinence" sorting, was unnecessary, and in poor taste on Ubisoft's part.

During one of TheFairyDina's streams showcasing the game, the game crashed, and showed a white screen, Hard-Locking the game. (Needing the game to be restarted) Again, a good way you could've imidigated this would've been to push back the release date, to make sure everything is working fine.

We (The Just Dance Community) believe this game was rushed to meet the release date, and we would've been fine with the game being delayed. Due to COVID-19, We can understand how tough it must have been to develop this game, whilst social distancing, etc. However, the game being released on time was one of the worst decisions Ubisoft has made. We hope you take into consideration all of the points that have been made in this essay, and thank you very much for your time.

On behalf of the Just Dance Community,
    felix

This is an excellent, comprehensive report of the bugs and issues in Just Dance 2021. I have experienced most of these issues firsthand and agree with everything except for this one statement that I quoted. In my experience, the Kinect scoring is excellent (and in places a little more forgiving than in years past), including the songs mentioned above. I haven't tried controller dancing yet (except for Dance Monkey on Switch, which appeared to score more generously than previous versions of the game), so it's possible that there are controller scoring issues, though the remote/phone dances that I've watched on YouTube suggest that controller scoring may be friendlier overall than in years past.

I hit 13k on my first attempts of In the Navy, Youv'e Got a Friend in Me, and Joone Khodet using Kinect. From my experience with the Kinect scoring of the Just Dance Unlimited catalog, I believe these dances are looking for specific features in the choreography, and experience with similar issues in the Unlimited catalog may help. I watched rfmckinleyport (sp?) dance to You've Got a Friend in Me on YouTube. I wasn't surprised to see him take a couple of Supers in the early moves; I have a pretty good idea of why. The moves where he took an OK with the knees knocking, there are a couple of features of that move which may be important. I'm familiar with similar moves that I struggled with in previous versions of the game, and my experience may have helped with these. I took one OK in this dance on my first attempt, and it was a place where rfxckinleyport scored perfect; I simply made a mistake, moved the wrong way (being unfamiliar with the dance), and the game definitely scored me right with my OK. It looks like TheAllu has DOTW. If this is the same TheAllu I've seen in the past, he usually has a pretty good feel for what the game is looking for and how to score well. Sometimes the punishment may not seem like it fits the crime, but in my experience, if Kinect flags a move as a mistake, there is usually something (at least subtle) that the dancer is doing wrong (though if we go back to Just Dance 3 or earlier, I can suggest a few scoring exceptions back from those days).

I think the Kinect scoring of Yameen Yasar is excellent. I took 4 OK's and scored in the 12700's on my first attempt. When I reviewed the video, I noticed a clear move that I had not noticed in my first attempt. It was nothing tricky. When I fixed this, I scored in the 12900's. I noticed a couple of subtle things I had overlooked, and my next attempt was in the 13's. I feel that all three of my scores were correctly judged by the game. (I'm referring to the main version, the trio. If you were speaking of the extreme version, my apologies. I haven't tried the extreme version yet, but the DOTW's suggest that it is reasonable.)

As for the DOTW and dancer card issues, the temporary fix appears to be to dance in a new profile that hasn't played Just Dance before. Hopefully they will release an update to help with some of these issues soon. Happy dancing.

Hello there guys! I apologise for the delayed response. Thank you for taking the time to share your opinions and feedback within this thread.

FelixCG - Thank you for taking the time to write up such a detailed post. Whilst we appreciate such a thorough report, in future I would recommend making separate threads for each issue. This helps us to track each issue more efficiently, and provide updates for separate investigations in their designated thread rather than within a master-post thread (which can cause communication errors and confusion for players encountering different issues.)

I'm going to try and address each issue that you have brought up, so please forgive me if I miss anything out!

    - Dancer Card reverting after finishing a song/reloading game: The development team is aware of this issue, and they are currently investigating this further. We have found that this seems to happen after transferring your dancer card from Just Dance 2020 to Just Dance 2021. If you're encountering this issue, and didn't transfer your dance card between games, please can you let us know?

    - Quick Play isn't randomized: I've investigated further and I can see that the development team is reporting that quick play is working as intended.

    - DOTW and other scores not updating: The development team are aware of this issue and they are currently investigating this further. Once we have more information to share, it will be posted within the game forums, so please keep an eye out for this. We apologise for any inconvenience caused, and appreciate your ongoing patience at this time.

    - Song sorting and "Pertinence": The development team are aware that some players have the sorting option "Pertinence" instead of "Catalog." They are currently looking into this further, and we have no new information to share at the moment. If we require additional information, or have news to share regarding this, it will be posted within the forums, so please keep an eye out.

Regarding the other issues you have addressed (Hi-Score, WDF Delayed Exit, Montage, Video Gallery, Recommended Songs, Kinect, Crashes): I was unable to find any reports of these. Could you please open up a new thread for each additional issue you would like to report, as this will make it easier to track them. When opening a new thread, we'd appreciate it if you could include the following information:
    - A description of the issue you're encountering
    - A video (ideally) or images that showcase the issue you're encountering. This is helpful for our investigation process, and we can pass these directly to the development team.

greekphysics - Thank you for sharing your own Just Dance experiences using the Kinect function. It's really added to this discussion, and it would be interesting to hear if other players have had positive/negative experiences with the scoring using this type of controller.
