Yeah, the wired shouldn't have the connection issues mentioned with WiFi.
Oh yeah, that's a good point NOOB. Try the DirectX options. I know many games don't work well with DX12. I can't recall if TD1 uses it or not but I know it can run on DX11.
Another often overlooked setting is to go into the Nvidia control panel and under power change to Max Performance and see if that helps.
By chance is that RAID a software, hardware, or CPU RAID? I don't think Intel had the VROC on that era of chip though. Was it different before the reinstall? i.e. were you using a single drive, or RAID-1 before?
Totally a crapshoot, but have you tried a different power supply? I had issues with crashing to desktop since day one. The game improved as time went along but still happened here and there. I attributed it to bug they couldn't fix. But, then I built a new ultimate HEDT machine. It was oriented for work as much as play. The ONLY thing I used from the previous system was my Antec 1200 watt as it should be more than enough according to the power calculator of the parts. The very first time I fired up the game, within minutes I had crash to desktop. It was having more frequently in this game; almost never in any other games. I also do VM simulations, encoding, and when not using it, I do Folding@home on CPU and the dual 2080ti's. Never crashed with any of that. Anyway, I had a brand new Antec 1000 watt from a previous RMA and stuck it in. With it, the machine would simply click and turn off in this game. Again, not in any others. I assumed that maybe the 1000 watt wasn't big enough but it made me question the 1200 so I put it in an old machine that had never crashed to desktop in this game. Within 10 minutes it did. I ordered a new Corsair AX1600i and have not had a single one since. I would have bet big money it was the game. I've been in I.T. 32 years now and hadn't really seen one behave like that. But, like Memory, power supply issues can manifest themselves in various ways. If you've got a spare, you might try it. You might also try pulling RAM sticks by channel and seeing if that makes any change. Try removing anything else that you've added since it last worked correctly. Pull out parts and put in other machines and see if they do the same. I call it the divide and conquer method. I realize however it is harder to do that with hardware on water... Good luck.
Here's my HEDT system I built last:
