Do you have any evidence to back up that data? You think they made that decision without doing their homework?
Cause from where I stand, you laid your message like a true Steam fanboy, without considering anything else.
No, buddy, they have people who did the math. And while a few years back you would've been right, we're now living in different times.
Regardless of the store you pick, you have to get a Uplay account in order to play a Ubisoft game. You have to get an Origin account if you want to play an EA game.
You have to get a Battlenet account to play an Activision game.
The days of Steam being the one and only launcher are far gone. People will not say no to games just because "ThEy ArE NoT On StEAM"
And Epic right now has a far better deal for developers than Steam does.
If you disagree with me, that's fine. I await your solid data to back up the statements above.
But if I were you, I'd also visit every review for Watch Dogs Legion or Assasin's Creed Valhalla, and see how many of them are even mentioning the store front.
You're not paying for a freakin' launcher, you're paying for a game. And the game is the same, regardless of the launcher you have it on.
If you insist of having all your games in the same place, I advise you to get GOG. You can log in with any store credentials there and have all the game library in the same place.
