How did you guys beat the hunter? I turned down to normal difficulty because i just wanted the manhunt done with. I normally ROFL-stomp through on challenging, but wanted to cakewalk it. Which i I did. Except for the hunter.
Running a DPS build with AR + bullet king, soon as i opened the gate, BAM, I'm down. Revive hive, let's do this. BAM. Dead.
Replay mission, figured I'd use my armour/shield build with SMG and Bakers so i could just chase the hunter down and wear it down. Nope. Smashed through my shield in about 2 seconds. We traded blows for a few minutes. I use an armour kit, do a cover to cover and BAM full armour and health gone, 1 shot.
This is on normal, the bare minimum difficulty. I run heroic with my clan mates, hold my own, do my part and have good gear. I've played this game for almost 500 hours and don't completely suck.
I just can't understand how or why this hunter could hit me so hard. If i was on heroic, or even challenging I'd understand it being OP. But this was ridiculous. I couldn't even get a look in.
Your telling me. How is anyone supposed to get the mask this Bastich drops when, despite having the mission set to the lowest difficulty, hits like an enemy set to flamin Legendary.
Honestly, Division 2’s idea of “Balance” is clearly a bigger joke than Dragon ball z’s Android 19. But straight to the point, the hunters in general, not just the one, but all of them “Need to seriously be toned down accordingly. as all you are doing is discouraging players indirectly. Also, don’t even “think” about telling people to get good, not everyone has that privilege of getting good gear, I have one heck of a marksman build going on, Chainkiller, Memento, Nemesis, Bakers dozen, punch drunk, 200%+ Headshot damage, a lot of weapon damage (six offence attributes and more) and some jacked up armor regeneration. I hit the his armor down enough for ‘em to waste 2 armor kits out of however many they usually have, bout 4, Only to get scrambled like a bag of skittles and getting slammed 1,600,000+ damage in just 3 to 5 bullets.
Damage done by enemies as a whole need to be completely reworked from the ground up accordingly, sure heroic is understandable, I even did a few +4 control points, even killed two rogue agents after capping one of them at +4 and let me tell you, it was hard, but doable. The Hunter in the manhunt mission on Coney Island for Bardon Schaeffer on normal difficulty, not even hard or greater. Not doable. Fix it.
I regularly do lv4 control points. Some enemies seems a bit spongey at times. I've got a few hunter masks, from ages ago, when gear 1.0 was a thing. Not a huge fan of rogues because bullet sponge, but I've had about 65/35 success/fail when i actively engage them. But this one hunter, just wow. Wiped the floor with me, on lowest diffculty. Shouldn't have happened. Not like that.
My DPS build didn't last long enough to do much. That's almost all offensive based stats, with high CC + CD. Have 1 Haz protect mod.
Shield/armour went a bit better. T5 shield, 4 blue or yellow, 2 red cores. SMG damage, rifle damage, armour regen and repair skills. We traded blows through 3 armour kits for me, 4 for hunter. Guess hunter got bored, because immediately after i used my last armour kit i got dropped like a sack of spuds. Armour and health, dead on ground, 1 shot. That doesn't even happen on heroic. That shield build goes like a freight train on challenging missions and summit, i have to really F up to die.
On my skill build agent (Status Effect, EP + Vile, with Burn Sticky Bomb and Striker Drone) he was shockingly easy on my first attempt on Challenging. Once I had him on fire and kept reapplying the burn status effect with the Firewall flamethrower, preventing him from activating his skills, my Striker Drone just nailed him.
However, when I went to do the same mission on Challenging with my red build agent I died. And died again. And again. And again. I made at least 6 attempts on that mission thinking that as the Hunter had been so easy on my skill build agent, surely it must be even easier with my red build's DPS output? I eventually managed to take him down but I was having to be so aggressive that he kept leaving cover whilst making sure he didn't melee me. When I finished it, I was shaking with the stress of it; I'd already gotten the mask & taken him down with my SB agent, so I'm not sure why I was so determined to kill the Hunter on my red build.
I think the burn status effect is your best bet, as it prevents him from doing anything whilst he is on fire. And then you just keep on re-applying it whilst something like the Striker Drone keeps nailing him.
Thanks for the tip. I don't have a staus build, but should have inventory to put something together.Originally Posted by rapier17 Go to original post
Lol honeslty the first time I played that manhunt I made a mistake and set it to normal instead of heroic and let me tell you that there's really not a big difference between heroic on normal for the hunter. The only thing I noticed is that I did do more damage on normal but damage taken was really close when comparing normal to heroic.
If it helps I switched over to my backfire build. The crusader shield (tier 5) went down extremely quick, but it gives you chance to shoot him. As for my armour (at 1.4 million) it disappeared in a bullet or two. When he looked like he was going to do something I threw a grenade, which makes him dodge out of cover and not shoot you. That allowed me to shoot him.Originally Posted by kizza0721 Go to original post
I was able to spot when he was going to shoot his chem launcher skill, so could pre-empt it. That said my haz protect was very high with the build.
All in all he went down easier than I expected, even though it was normal. I usually play challenge, sometimes heroic, but dropped it for the manhunt. No expert but the hunter on normal appeared to be hitting like an heroic level NPC.
The difficulty was off at normal difficulty. Scaling seems to be a big issue with the devs. One unexpected twist was the hunter did not use a med kit on normal.
I tend to avoid using skills with a proxy (such as drone, turret and hive) as the hunters can hack them. Is there a trick to stopping them hacking the skills? In The Division if your electronics skill was high enough (9000 if I remember correct) it made it all but certain they couldn't.Originally Posted by rapier17 Go to original post
I used my PfE DPS/Armor hybrid, with Shock Trap & Foam Nades. Only noticed a ~10% difference between Hard & Challenging [trying Heroic this week after the Belfry stuff]. ManHunter was about twice as strong as Schaeffer.
The key for me was just to be patient and keep repositioning [get him to use a few armor syringes] until I was able to get him into my shock trap, at which point I rushed with Rock'N'Roll. PfE build allows me to survive axe blows, and take a decent amount of incoming damage before popping back in cover to regen.
