Personally I think the majority of gamers take themselves far too seriously anyways and should just lighten up. Every PvP kill in the DZ is a "gank" and everyone better than them is a "cheat".

I am a TD1 and TD2 lover of PvE DZ play (though TD2 DZ's are pitiful) by TD1 standards.
I think the types of players you meet in the game does make a difference and that might be a regional thing. As far as the DZ goes, it comes down to player perspective. Seeing it from a PvE perspective, farming in the DZ and unable to defend yourself by Devs design. That would mean you will lose any interaction, that is if you are a true PvE player. Especially when you see the players attacking you are the exact same players. Now players could change instances, but if players really was there to PvP. Shouldn't they be there to PvP against other PvP players.

If you see from a PvP side of the discussion, everyone should in there should be equipped for PvP. Several PvP players in these forums have argued it's a PvP zone and PvE doesn't belong. The Devs then started locking loot behind the DZ wall to get players to play it. So if it's a PvP zone, you don't need NPCs in there at all.
