What are your thoughts. I know the community is split. Some players on here hate the idea of pvp and would love to have a PVE only Darkzone. I personally think Div 2 the devs went all in on PVE and gave every pve player a pretty decent experience. I myself hope that the next title they focus on just one big open world game where all the loot you get has to be extracted and pve/pvp is all we get. The game Sea of Thieves is this way and even though many players complained about toxicity and being ganked all the time, the devs had a clear vision for the game and stood behind that openworld Pve/pvp. What are all your thoughts. I know many of you will hate this idea. However I really do think this type of game is unique and would be very popular.
That is a successful model that has been around since..........well Ultima that I can recall. Dark Age of Camelot had a server exclusive, there are others I cannot recall. You could lose all your gear, not just what you have in a designated stash. You would level the traditional way killing NPC and of course each other. It was a challenge when you were the one being farmed. In those days you played against the same people, you could not pout and change servers. Imagine, the only way to wear new equipment is to extract it, decontaminate.
These are very popular game modes and why the concept continues, re skinned.
You can find your experience you seek, though I doubt you will like what you are asking for. This always brings out the most skilled at cheats, hacks and other ways to gain an advantage. Like any activity where there is competition there will be cheaters. Cheating is very common now in what is left of the Darkzone game. It is subtle now.
Since the majority of players pack into the DZ, how could these developers ignore spreading the "love" the entire game and make it harder to get any gear?
Like you I am baffled.

But yeah. The whole map being DZ would be absolutely great. As long as the whole map was also PvE, and players could choose to play either PvE OR PVP on entry to the game. Win/Win.
If Division 3 was like this would you still play it? I mean even though you have a chance of getting ganked by other players. That doesn’t mean you will always get ganked. The way Div1 dz was setup, if you were smart you could still get your extractions off.Originally Posted by Adam_Sanderson Go to original post
This sounds cool as well. A toggle to have pve/pvp. Or just pve.Originally Posted by CoOp_Gordon Go to original post
Neither am I, THAT'S why I have a big problem with Dark Zone exclusive loot!Originally Posted by Adam_Sanderson Go to original post
With the broken PVP mechanics, cheating, hacking and the build meta game, PVP is just a horrid experience of ganking, unfair muggings and just down right nasty, miserable behavior by a certain class of cretin in this game. Until Massive does a better job policing their PVP, it's just not worth it.
With that said, there are certain items that you cannot get outside of the Dark Zone, which means for players like me, who don't like get bent over the barrel and given the full 12 inches by some scum-sucking, excuse of human filth looking to boost their wretched self-esteem, we are denied this loot which is GROSSLY unfair!
I think if they introduced real penalties for going Rogue [loss of Watch/Skills, stuck Rogue for 24hrs without ability to remove, large reward for downing a Rogue], eliminated extraction notifications, and exempted Missions from contaminated/extraction I would consider it.
I think the bigger problem is the engine. I don't think it could handle all that many players.
I'm not interested in anything with PVP. One of the reasons I left Destiny was because quests and such for weapons and armor was forcing me to play PVP, otherwise there was no way to get them. I think Division has a bit of that with items that are only available in the dark zone, I'm not sure, but it's not nearly on the level of Destiny. Destiny also had some issue with separation of changes between PVE and PVP. If they nerfed a gun for PVP, the nerf affected it in PVE. I don't like my fun being ruined because of a game mode I don't care for and never participate in. I also saw a lot of effort put into the PVP side in Destiny. I would rather have seen that effort put into improving PVE.
PVP in Division is a far more fringe and irrelevant game mode to someone that only wants to play PVE as compared to Destiny and I would like to see it kept that way.
Eve online did pvpve right. Because there was no bias in it at all. It was 100% player driven. You could be in null sec all day long and never get caught in a pvp fight or you could be getting killed every 5 minutes. It was entirely down to the choices players made. There were no laws no rules. Nothing..Originally Posted by Adam_Sanderson Go to original post
The original darkzone concept echoed this. The darkzone was meant to be lawless and without rules. Anytbing could happen. But what they did wrong was put such a heavy bias on pvp that they totally destroyed the concept.
You can see this if you take a look back a the history of it. Back in the first game pve players found ways to extract loot without having to pvp by using survivor link getting there stuff on a rope and getting the hell out of town.. but then the devs added laws and rules to try and force players to stay and fight..
In a lawless zone where you can play however you want. Adding rules and laws to force you to play a certain way is a very big no no. And the reason the darkzone has ultimately failed and most players never set foot in there.
Compared to Eve though where pve players in there pve builds would quite frequently enter lowsec to run missions for the increased rewards and loots because it was lawless and they could actively take measures to avoid being caught in pvp.
It was entirely player driven and determined by who made the best choices. And thats really how the dark zone should have been. And even before the first game was released the developers frequently came out with comments like "The Dark Zone is NOT a pvp area. Its what they called risky PVE." And yet every change they made was a direct opposition to this philosophy.
Players like myself would have looked the dark zone if we could have been like super elite special forces teams. Go in get loot and get out before anyone ever knew we were there.
