I love my EP status/Vile build, and I was going to run the Riverside gas station up to Heroic before taking it over for the manhunt.
On the map I noticed an Elite patrol (+2) tied to the CP, which was perfect since my WT settings are usually Hard; one patrol and it'd be Heroic.
I owe it to a bit of luck, but by the time I caught up with the patrol they were literally right in front of the gas station, standing right next to a bunch of NPC guards already there. I aimed and lobbed one Firestarter shot which not only caught all of them on fire, it also detonated several canisters of gas lying around which intensified the burn plus added bleed and confuse. So right off they had burn, bleed, confuse and my Vile de-buff statuses all on at once.
The initial status ticks must have been high because they were dropping like flies and wave after wave coming from the back of the gas station, spawning with all four statuses already active on them. Then they'd drop and the next wave did the same. The squishy grape sounds were popping so fast I couldn't count quick enough, but I know it was at least 15, and I think closer to 18 down before the 75% carry-over on status effects wasn't enough to totally take down a wave.
Don't know about other EP fans but this was probably a personal best for me. As noted some was luck and fortunate timing, but still what a "pop" fest with one single shot.
Anyone else have a good status build story?
I tried several but settled on Technician. It enables you to use at least 1 piece with no +1 skill tier but then get that back, and the extra tier makes a huge difference in your skill haste, skill damage, status effects and the radius of your stinger hive (which I also use). Also: the EMP grenades are "da bomb" when it comes to taking out anything robotic, including warhounds and jammers.
If you have a good rolled Vile nothing beats that for your one exotic gear piece. At one point I was using a backpack with perfectly wicked and +15% weapon damage. I dolled out both massive status and weapon damage but I was a little too squishy for comfort. One good hit from an Elite sniper and I'd be a goner. That's when the perfect god-rolled Belstone gloves dropped for me; max armor, max health and max status effects, plus the armor regen. I swapped the EP backpack back in and put the Belstone gloves in place of the EP gloves. Effectively I only lost some skill haste, but in turn gained a lot of toughness plus the armor regen, so I can hide when I do get low.
I do rate it as my "most fun" build by far, but I still can't help but think it's going to get nerfed someday soon. If you max all your status effects out the thing does massive damage, and I can't see them letting us get away with that for too long.
I like it but I kind of went away from it I have been using firebombs with the mad bomber and it works just as well and not tying up a skill they really keep the enemy in check - I was even willing to let a helpful talent go for my skill build to put on the mad bomber I have had a lot of success with it never fails to stop an enemy and damage them . I will admit i have been getting bored and am trying different things. I went away from the all red builds found I was having more fun with a skill build still like the shield build with pulse.
i don't know about ep but i have had a pestilence tick kill almost 2 full floors of summit before. i got a full pestilence (+glass cannon ect) on one mob and it went around the room killing everyone but because it was near the stairwell and there was a hall mob and the next room had a open door it ended up killing everyone in the stairwell and the next room also.
FWIW Pestilence works really well with EP because the "plague" is also a status effect. I have a god roll Pesty that is my main weapon of choice with my EP build, with Harmony as secondary.Originally Posted by desolate-master Go to original post
I still miss the old Pestilence with the deadly cloud, but after the nerf it did gain a little by allowing it to affect robotics too. This enables me to take a warhound out with only 20 or 30 shots, then sit back while the plague wears it down to zero. Very handy for the machine-gun warhounds that constantly run around and never stay still long enough to use the EMP grenade or stinger hive on.
I've no idea on numbers, but by goodness does it feel good when you plant the perfect Burn Sticky Bomb with EP/Vile and not only does everyone in the area die, but it spreads to the reinforcements, and then the next wave, and the next. It makes me feel almost godlike being able to destroy so many opponents with a single shot.
When EP was released I didn't think I'd use it for more than a bit of playing around with, but its been my main Skill Build ever since I got it, pushing my Sniper Turret/Drone combo into the corner where it is collecting dust.
This exactly ^^^^ is how I felt at first (about EP) and how it stands now.Originally Posted by rapier17 Go to original post
