Well, I feel like Warden could use more rework than just that, But how about giving him a proper 2 (or maybe 3?) lights chains for starters?
Leave the double side lights to Vortex, i.e. make it available only after Shoulder Bash and speed up all 600 ms lights to 500 ms.
So his lights will be as following:
500ms right side light -> 500ms left side right and vice versa;
500 ms right side light -> 500 right side light, 500 ms left side light -> 500 lfet side light. But if it's after a shoulder bash, then it will be double lights instead.
And of course, 500 ms top light -> 500 ms side light.
Or maybe just make double side lights chainable with another light attack.
E.g:
Double side light -> Top light
Top light -> Double side light
Double right side light -> left side light
Double left side light -> right side light
Double left side light -> left side light
Double right side light -> right side light
Left side light -> Double right side light
Right side light -> Double left side light
Left side light -> Double left side light
Right side light -> Double right side light
This doesn't seem to require any new animations and doesn't seem to be imbalanced.
Alright, in the light of the current testing ground, I am going to complement this post of mine.
500ms - 500ms all side chains for 12-14 dmg are like (almost) a minimal standard in FH. Alas, Warden was robbed of them. His only viable chain is side light - top light. But many people know it and that reduces his lights viability even further. Others get blocked or parried. His double sides also do 15 dmg for 15 stm and they can't be chained with other light attacks, while other heroes have it 12-14 dmg for 9 stm and they can chain. Even if you gave him 500-200-500 or 500-500-200 for 24stm instead of 500-500 for 18stm, that would still be better than current situation.
Recently tested Gryphon in Training Mode.
If you aren't willing to give Warden either separate side lights 500 ms each or mixable double lights, I think you should at least redistribute the damage on double lights (besides speeding up the 600 ms side light to 500 ms), so that first hit would deal 12 dmg and the second would deal 3 damage like Gryphon's do.
i im a rep 60 player and a warden main with 15 rep on him (tending to play more a more cent but its out of context), and i can see were is youre point going, i've never seing or at least noticed the difference between the lights, but after somle test it had becomed clear that it was slower than some other lights from the others character. I can agree that warden need a change on his lights.
Yeah, Warden's swordplay needs an upgrade. The hero's flow is one of the worst.
My two cents:
Add a light chain finisher, and make light finishers superior (don't bounce off when blocked): could be 14 dmg, 6 stm, 500 ms.
This would give you, L, L, L, but also H, L, and let you flow into your bash after you've played with your sword.
Not really needed, especially if they go with the changes we saw in the testing ground.Originally Posted by Jazz117Volkov Go to original post
You could be right, but "bash can chain from everything" still isn't that impressive when "everything" for a Warden is three things. The kit burns stamina like crazy, and besides lucky heavy openers or GBs, the new bash chaining is circumstantial.Originally Posted by Gaser. Go to original post
Granted, I didn't get a chance to try the testing grounds changes, but from what I've seen, with the backstep bash gone (that was some of the most powerful garbage in the game), people are going to realise just how bare the kit is. I think a light finisher like I described would take the shackles off a lot and give Warden players freedom to do something besides bashing immediately or returning to neutral.
Raider, Kensei, and Warmonger, all have far better basic chains than Warden, they're each looking at three hit chains with alternating H and L options.
You mean that enhanced finisher light would allow him to shoulder bash after the light gets blocked?Originally Posted by Jazz117Volkov Go to original post
That's the general idea, yeah. So like Warmonger, but only on finishers.Originally Posted by FixWardenLights Go to original post
I'd be happy enough with just a 3rd light though; doesn't have to be superior. Another idea I've seen bouncing around is to have a light finisher be undodgeable; that would also be pretty cool.
