Hello Agents/Devs,
I will be very brief here.
Having 2 different types of challenges is good. But having only one active in each type at a time isn't really good.
And also it has to be activated, for it to start counting is even more restricting.
It's not easy for a player to keep track of when a challenge is completed and to enable another one, even with track on screen enabled. Especially, when you are in combat.
So my concerns are about 2 things,
- Why manual activation of challenges?
- Why only one challenge in each category is active at a given time?
Suggestion:
- Please follow the same format you guys created with Leagues.
- Let all challenges be active by default.
- Let all challenges progress at the same time.
- Increase the count in each task if needed. Challenge rewards are for each challenge completion count anyways.
- (Optional) Can make each challenge to have only one unique task with a much larger number. This might increase challenge counts, and also the challenge reward counts. In that case, it can be changed to a milestone based rewards. Like the season level normal rewards track. You get rewards only when reaching certain levels.
- (Optional) Stages format like in non mission challenges of Leagues.
The Result:
- Don't need to actively keep track of challenge progress.
- No manual activation or changing challenges while in combat.
- No need to sync challenges with group members.
- Easy to understand/use for all and an absolute familiarity for who does season leagues.
Cheers,
Ezio
Agreed. Especially as some of the Tactical ones can take a long time to complete - e.g. "Status Strife" requires a particular faction appear enough times to be completed. It took me 11 floors on heroic before I did.Originally Posted by EzioAudi2re Go to original post
Being limited to only one active challenge also makes some commendations excessively grindy - e.g. "Summit Challenge Tactical Merit" requires completing three challenges in a single session.
I don't mind having to activate them as it allows me to choose what I want to see tracked. However, I do want to be able to have multiple challenges active simultaneously. I'd be satisfied if there was a limit of three tactical challenges for example. And also it has to be activated, for it to start counting is even more restricting.
Oh yes, commendations. Some of them are based on the challenge completions in single session, like you mentioned.
Yea I thought about that. But then each will have different limitations on how many challenges can be active. A hardcore player will prefer fewer, while a more casual player will prefer more.Originally Posted by dagrommit Go to original post
So I thought why have a limit. Just keep all active. Or should I say, why have an activation process.
I like the League challenges format. No confusion, no manual intervention.
So players who are trying to do challenges will keep track of the progress but not limited to one or specific task at a time. So they can enjoy the game while they grind this.
And players who are not concerned about challenges, might randomly get notification of challenge completion & rewards, only to realize they did complete some challenges. They can go happy with the unexpected reward and/or get interested to do more challenges.
And about tracked. May be have an option to choose from the list of all active challenges. But all challenges are active by default.
I've only run it solo thus far. Are the challenges per-player, or do they apply to the group?Originally Posted by EzioAudi2re Go to original post
It's per player. But then when in group, all members kinda need to activate same/similar challenges to get it progressed. Otherwise, they might miss out some of the challenges.Originally Posted by dagrommit Go to original post
Say, the session owner is doing the boss challenge with no/few directive, and someone joining had 7 directives challenge active. And if they didn't switch it manually, they won't get the completion, even if they didn't complete it in the current cycle.
Which means, all group members kinda need to agree on what challenge they're trying to do. Or atleast, discuss and choose their challenges. Which becomes really painful with matchmaking and friends who join midway during the session.
