Coyote on my dps and true patriot build - probably my most used exotic, because i prefer guns over skills.
Memento on my hybrid - its growing on me

    I've used:
Chameleon on my hybrid - i stopped using it after a complete build overhaul. People dislike it because: "iT's An sMg nOt an aR". But it's a great and fun gun after the much needed rework.
Pestilence - damage is monstrous once the stacks are built. Then you only need to fire a bullet here and there to refersh the duration
Sweet Dreams - to do quick work on the annoying "i eat bullets for breakfast" heavy weapons guy (believe me or not i had difficulties taking them down...i still do sometimes). Also good for skill users for the occasional oh f... moment when you get flanked.
I cleared a control point on hard with nothing but melee kills with the Sweet Dreams. Because I noticed I had zero melee kills on a certain commendation. It was hilarious and fun. lol

I even melee killed the elites. They just require a blast to the face first

    • Chameleon: You must have missed the Buff it got. It's only 3% worse than the average AR unprocc'd - but procc'd it's off the chart. Plus, it has SMG CHC.
    • Diamondback: Auto-Crit, without needing any CHC - if you can hit your shots. M1A is just an Average Rifle, post nerf.
    • Sweet Dreams: Shouldn't be a cooldown on Talent, but it rocks. Sorry you can't Shotgun well.
    • Backfire SMG: HzP without sacrificing Crit - how can this be bad?
    • VIle Mask: Status Builds! plus procc's w/Jammer Pulse
    • Ravenous Rifle: literally the strongest gun in the game, without considering the talent [except a procc'd Chameleon].
    • Dodge-City Holster: The perfect Boomer killer [21m Liberty Headshots] .. but I miss the old version with 400% Optimal Range
    • Regulous pistol: literally the strongest Sidearm in the game, without considering the talent.
    • Eagle Bearer: The best all around AR, plus Tenacity allows you to facetank if your TTK is low enough.
    • Big Horn: Allows you to carry three primary weapons [since it's both a Rifle & AR, freeing you up to have a CQC weapon]

Bullet King is highest dps on paper. The only people that actually spend 100% out of cover firing are shield builds, which you can't do with Bullet King. Let's see how long your red DPS build stays alive without ducking behind cover(Always reload when moving/behind cover. Don't be a scrub).

I didn't miss the Chameleon. The changes just bring it up to being on par with other high-end weapons. The talent is interesting, but suffers from only being good when it's up, and having a pretty significant ramp-up time, making it bad for on-demand use that I prefer for my own playstyle. I'll just carry a Strained Police M4 or Famas for long range, and an optimist Vector for close range. The Chameleon just doesn't do either job real great. That's why I pass on it.

Diamondback: I mean...if you're playing a rifle spec, you're going to be hard-pressed to beat a Boomerang Classic M1A, even post nerf. If you think it's "just an average rifle" then your build for it sucks. And if you're good at headshots, Rifleman or Headhunter builds with an M1A are devilishly good! The reason I don't like the Diamondback is that it's a novelty weapon. And I prefer practical use, not gimmick.

Sweet Dreams is a gimmick. And you're getting a gimmick talent for melee in a world of shooting, while giving up a powerful shotgun talent like Pummel or Close & Personal.

Despite my wording, Vile is actually....decent....for Status skill builds, like Eclipse Protocol. But I think you'd be better served by Memento for that, gaining that tasty Skill Efficiency as well as armor and a little shooting damage. It's not that Vile is outright bad(Because more damage is always good), but just that it's outclassed by Memento IMO.

We'll just have to disagree about the Ravenous. It's another gimmick weapon, and as I said, locked to the raid on a sh*t drop chance. Why bother when the Boomerang M1A is easy to get, and performs extremely well without having to re-learn your entire muscle memory and firing habits?

WTF is a boomer? I mean, besides "old" people on the internet. You mean heavies? You don't need to devote an entire exotic to doing that with a gimmick.

Agreed about Regulous. But again, locked to the raid. Limited number of shots is also annoying, so I hope you have a lot of weapon handling. I prefer the faster RoF of a Kard.

We'll have to disagree about the Eagle Bearer. "Best"? Famas and Police M4 would like a word. Also, they don't potentially kill you if you screw up the damage taken/kills mechanic.

The Big Horn is just another Gimmick. But if you like it, more power to you. I've always said that a player who's using something they're comfortable with will outperform someone badly using a meta build. And that pretty much applies to every weapon in the game.

I'm a shooter, so no Vile mask and anything related to skill builds. I like Coyote and Memento, each on their own mixed with Providence, Ceska and Grupo. Special word about the Chatterbox: this SMG outperforms itself, incredible how stable and accurate it is on even longer distances (despite the bare specs). I also like the Pestilence. My 9mm Vector with strained and larger mag has a more solid performance than Ladydeath. I really like the sound of the Bighorn, looking forward to the buff, now it's shining in my stash. Bulletking is useful when enemy's are constantly foamed by team members, like the hunters at floor 100. The Mantis is a solid and fun sniper to use, like in the first stage of Capitol Building on Legendary. Chameleon performs well in some situations, but don't like the sound (too thin). Carbine 7 is a more solid performer (rolled the talent).

Oddly enough Sweet dreams is better for non gun builds such as tanks and skill buids as a meaningful way to wreck soemeone who got too close while you lack the proper damage.

Now that we are going to get a new exotic shotgun i no longer have to complain about it.

Bullet King is just plain fun. Sometimes I use guns because they are fun.

I can understand not liking the nature of the Chameleon, and I honestly I don't use it a ton, but it's untouchable when procc'd.

Diamondback, if using a Rifle Crit build, is stronger than any other Rifle with Boomerang - because if you can consistently hit the highlighted enemy, it's 100% CD. Also, you're free to prefer the bullet power of an M1A, but the nerf did move it to a tightly bunched middle of the Rifles. I personally prefer a Boomerang Urban MDR - nearly no recoil, extra HSD, with better sDPS [thanks to higher RPM & mag size]. But there really isn't much separating most of the Rifles - so use what you like the feel of.

Sweet Dreams is a strong SPAS that can insta-kill my least liked enemy: the purple support. It's awesome for Hybrid or Skill builds, but also, remember I'm the guy pushing for a Melee Spec

Ravenous is stronger with its base damage than any Boomerang Rifle - it's OP without the gimmicks. I agree the IH weapons are annoyingly locked there. I don't have it, but I'm not going to pretend it's not the best gun in the game.

The extra 10 bullets in the Eagle Bearer makes more difference than I would have expected. I have a full gRoll Famas with Optimist, plus a full gRoll Burnout. They just don't perform as well as the EB, but it's more a subjective feel thing - since a full gRoll Famas with Optimist has better DPS. Also, stop putting the M4 into the conversation. It's not in the same tier, unless you have trouble controlling ARs and need it's handling to land bullets.

Boomer = first DH boss. I like to be the main Kite. But regardless, High-Noon is basically Sweet Dreams for Elites that lack helmets. Though maybe I just have a soft spot for it, from pre-TU8.

Big Horn is gimmicky, and I've never used it since I don't have one yet, but what I stated, is it's selling point.

Some people play on console. The extra stability and laser-like fire makes it a very good option., Also, landing more headshots or weakpoints is pretty damn important. Raw DPS isn't always king.

which is why I keep bringing up the Police M4 and the Classic M1A. Sure, if you can get your hands on the exotics, use em. But for most people it's going to just be simpler and easier to go with the more available option.

Anyway, like I said, I'm not trying to tell anyone how to play. These are just my impressions of the exotics compared to how I prefer to play.
