Which exotics do you consider actually useful?

Got excited when the diamondback dropped for me yesterday but after using then and today i discovered that like all exotics there’s a catch that makes its talent near null and void. To activate the talent you have to shoot a highlighted target. After that you have the talent for 5s. Assuming you hadnt fired any shots before hitting the highlighted target that still leaves only 4 shots. It’s a slow firing weapon it takes about 2.5-3 seconds to fire those 4 shots and it takes 3.2 seconds to reload so every 4 shots you gotta reactivate the talent but then the highlighted target always hides in cover while 5 other dudes are rushing and grenade spamming from every angle so half the time you cant even activate the talent and now you just sitting there surrounded with a 5 round capacity slow firing slow loading rifle.

Is the coyote mask and lady death the only useful exotics? I personally haven’t found any of them worth using. Sure the diamond back kills an enemy in less shots than the bakers dozen but i still easily kill more enemies in less time with bakers dozen.

    • Liberty is pretty good for what it's intended to be used with.
    • Vile mask is good, when combo'd with EP
    • BTSU gloves are good with heal builds
    • Ninjabike is handy when paired with an LMG or Backfire
    • Memento has its uses
    • Bighorn is nice when paired with headhunter
    • Nemesis is still the best marksman rifle in the game. I think it's better than the Sharpshooter 50 cal.

Coyote and Lady Death are simple do the bare minimum and get damage exotics that generalizes to every situation ever. I'd imagine that's why people would only use those two over anything else.

All are useful in their niche, for the most part.

Lady Death is only good for Melee on Hard [w/ClawsOut], or trolling farmers in the DZ.

I’m still having fun with it at long range , but midrange and up close its just not the power house i was expecting and I’m dying a lot due to not being accustomed to the slow rate of fire and slow reload but I’m only getting close because the highlighted target won't come out of cover. If they’d stop running away and hiding the whole time

I like the nemesis too but i have to stand out of cover too long to power it up and It feels like I’m on a boat trying to steady my aim so i keep getting one shot by shot gunners 300 yards away.

I have a nemesis with a build with headhunter it does 12m per headshot, 22m after a headshot kill then 48m I have 50m ch, apparently it caps there. Which dont make since because headhunters says it does 125 percent headshot of ur last shot and should cap at 1250 percent but its caps on th second shot after a headshot which means it only 250 percent, which would still kill anything but is pretty useless in solo and only useful against certain enemies, for players that can hit a moving target in the head, for me it's the target range lol.

Just did a test run with my Assault Turret, Striker Drone build with the new Capacitor AR and Waveform holster. These exotics are very nice kit for my build and I will be looking for those when TU12 goes live.

Agreed that most of the exotics have their niche. It's just a question of whether your play style suits them. Ridgeways with HF/Eclipse BP/Sadist is great for clearing landmarks in the DZ, or camping spawns on Summit.

The only 4 exotics i find useful are mantis, vile, ravenous and coyotes

    Liberty is niche for tanks
Eagle bearer is for solo runs
Bullet king deals to low damage
Pestilence needs to be build around
    BTSU gloves same thing
    Imperial dynasty same thing
Nemesis does good dmg but needs way to much time to charge, and tbh mantis is just as good assuming npcs dont aim at you
Diamnondback is marking healing stations and has too low magazine capacity and too long reload time
Memento is rainbow loot in its purest form
Ridgeways requires you to have suicidal thoughts
    Lady death is for dz
    Chatterbox see ridgeways
    Backfire see ridgeways
    Acosta go bag- LOL
Saywers kneepads are useless in a game where npcs have rabies and flank you all the time while running at 100km/h and sniping you with a shotgun from 50m

I like Pestilence, you start by shooting a hostile in a group and they all start dying one by one, it's amazing.

They're very handy for sniping, where you can sit back in cover and pick off hostiles. And you can always run back at 200km/h so they can't flank you.
